Basic Function:

The Vice President of Human Resources is responsible for developing and executing Lighthouse's overall Human Resources strategy to support the organization's overall business plan and strategic direction. The Vice President of Human Resources serves as a business partner in succession planning, talent management, change management, organizational development, performance management, compensation, HR governance, and legal compliance.


Essential Job Requirements:

  • Function as a strategic business advisor to each business unit's executive/senior management regarding key organizational and management issues.
  • Participate in policy-making and general operating decisions as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Ensure timely response is provided to any claim, court-issued documentation, or other report requiring Human Resources approval, action, or contribution.
  • Lead various upward mobility initiatives, programs, and practices to increase upward mobility opportunities.
  • Create programs and initiatives to ensure a robust candidate pipeline, focusing special attention on recruiting individuals who are blind or visually impaired.
  • Establish and implement HR efforts that effectively communicate and support the company's mission and strategic vision.
  • Develop comprehensive strategic recruiting and retention plans to meet the human capital needs of strategic goals.
  • Provide direction and assist department leaders with employment-related strategic planning issues and implementation.
  • Develop HR plans and strategies to support the achievement of the overall business operations objectives.
  • Provide overall leadership and guidance to the HR function by overseeing talent acquisition, career development, succession planning, retention, training, leadership development, compensation, and benefits globally.
  • Identify key performance indicators for the organization's human resource, payroll, and talent management functions; assess the organization's success and market competitiveness based on these metrics.
  • Draft and implement the budget for the Human Resources department.
  • Ensure compliance with employment, benefit, insurance, safety, and other laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Work with the company's executive management team to establish a sound management succession plan that corresponds to the strategy and objectives of the company.
  • Oversee and support the performance management process and guide leaders on their employee reviews, evaluations, and compensation packages.
  • Champion a positive employee experience with an obsessive focus on building a great workplace that attracts, motivates, and retains employees.
  • Identify competency, knowledge, and talent needs within the organization and develop programs for enhancing skills and increasing knowledge to close gaps and provide new opportunities.
  • Maintain knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment law, human resources, and talent management.
  • Work collaboratively to ensure HR infrastructure, policies, procedures, systems, and people are in place to support business growth.
  • Assume additional responsibilities, perform other duties, and complete special projects as assigned.
  • Develop policies and procedures relating to all employee issues. Ensure consistent application of such.
  • Lead and mentor HR professionals and identify continuous quality improvement opportunities within the department.
  • Research, develop, and implement comprehensive compensation and benefits plans that are competitive and cost-effective.


Education:

  • BSc/BA in human resources, business administration, or relevant field; MSc/MA in human resources preferred.

Experience:

  • Non-profit experience is a plus
  • Minimum seven years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources.

Demonstrated Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of employment legislation and regulations.
  • Willingness to take a hands-on approach when needed.
  • Knowledge of data analysis and reporting.
  • Exemplary problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
  • Diligent and firm with high ethical standards.
  • A self-motivated and driven person dedicated to accuracy, teamwork, and meeting deadlines
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills oral and written.
  • Thorough understanding of human resource management principles and best practices.
  • Knowledge of and experience with various human resource information systems.
  • Full knowledge of applicable state and federal labor laws.
  • Strong Leadership skills the ability to lead by example.
  • Strong business acumen partnered with attention to the human element.

Physical Demands:

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
  • Must be able to travel locally and nationally to Lighthouse facilities.
  • The job requires the employee to sit or stand for prolonged periods.

Requirements:

  • Possess reliable transportation. Will be required to travel between office locations.
  • Pass Level II background check.
  • Possess a Florida driver's license, good driving record, and proof of insurance.

For employees living with visual impairments, you must provide documentation from a physician of legal blindness. Legal blindness is defined as: "Central visual acuity does not exceed 20/200 in the better eye with correcting lenses OR whose visual acuity, if better than 20/200, is accompanied by a limit to the field of vision in the better eye to such a degree that its widest diameter subtends an angle no greater than 20 degrees." These conditions are based on the federal Javits-Wagner-O'Day work program for legally blind individuals.
