Job Description

SUMMARY OF OVERALL PURPOSE:

The Vice President of Human Resources provides executive-level leadership and guidance to Give Kids The World’s HR operations. The key accountabilities for this position include setting, enforcing, and evaluating legally compliant human resources policies and programs; identifying and implementing long-term strategic talent management goals, with a focus on best practices to provide high quality services and organizational support. The Vice President of Human Resources also plays an active role in the Village risk management.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Talent Management

  • Assumes leadership role in complete employee life-cycle to include recruitment, selection, onboarding, engagement, retention and development.
  • Collaborates with the leadership team to formulate, develop, implement and evaluate a HR and talent management strategy to achieve the Village's mission, vision, and goals.
  • Develops and may facilitate educational and development programs for staff and volunteers.
  • Develops and drive talent management strategies to ensure effective staffing alignment with the needs of the business.
  • Creates systems to attract talent, identify critical talent needs, develop core competencies and corresponding development opportunities, and engage leadership in succession planning.

Employee Engagement

  • Designs and lead programs to strengthen staff recognition.
  • Identifies ways to increase staff retention and productivity, including strategies to enhance employee engagement, leadership and staff development, and regular feedback and coaching.
  • Provides creative leadership and work closely with managers to promote awareness, ownership, accountability, and sustainability of the diversity and inclusion initiatives and the organization’s culture.

Performance Management

  • Leads the effective and efficient administration of the performance management process, making sure that the Villages managers are equipped to engage in constructive and ongoing feedback and coaching.
  • Designs and lead the development and implementation of on-the-job training modules for all departments.

Compliance

  • Manages the working relationships with third party onsite partners.
  • Manages unemployment claims and attend hearings.
  • Oversees Worker Compensation administration.
  • Maintains current knowledge and application of all relevant laws and regulations at the local, state and national level relating to employment and ensure organizational compliance.
  • Educates and advise managers and senior leaders on HR related legal and regulatory matters and ensure HR programs, practices and policies are aligned.
  • Ensures that employee files and records are properly and securely maintained.

Employee Relations

  • Conducts all employee relations investigations.
  • Develops clear systems and processes for managing conflicts with and between employees, handling and investigating complaints.
  • Facilitates separations of employment voluntary and involuntary as needed.
  • Builds a more resilient organization by creating awareness and developing programs to promote good mental health habits.
  • Acts as resource for management and staff on employee relations issues and concerns, as well as Village policies.
  • Coaches managers on use of progressive discipline and appropriate documentation.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Designs and implement a competitive compensation system and benefit package to attract and retain staff.
  • Drafts and implements the Village's staffing budget, ensuring adherence to budgeted headcount.
  • Assists the CFO with the annual benefit review and renewal.
  • Reviews regularly compensation and benefits market data and monitor pay practices.

Department Responsibilities

  • Re-engineers processes to ensure maximum efficiency.
  • Develops and implement department budget.
  • Develops Village metrics to track and report key information to the leadership team.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the HR Department.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS BEYOND NORMAL OFFICE ENVIRONMENT

  • Able to work flexible hours to meet the human resources needs of a 24 hour per day, 7 days per week resort operation.
  • Able to walk, sit, stand, bend, crouch, balance, use hands/arms to lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
Skills, Competencies, Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • HR certification from a recognized organization, preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Hospitality or non-profit experience, preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of management and leadership experience in the HR field.
  • Bilingual, English& Spanish, preferred.
  • Proven ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, tact, professionalism, and integrity.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and easily to a changing environment.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships by adjusting approaches to meet the needs of a diverse team.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of the principles and practices of Human Resources management.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Uses creative solutions to solve problems with varying degrees of information.
  • Ability to develop strategic, long-term organizational HR plans and evaluate accomplishments.
  • Ability to operate a motorized vehicle, including battery-operated golf cart.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills. Able to successfully mediate interpersonal situations in conflict resolution.
  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Valid drivers license with clean driving record.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to exercise solid judgment and protection of confidential information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of Applications.
