Job Description

We are thrilled to announce we are hiring for the VP of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) at Compass One in partnership with Thompson Hospitality. This position will partner closely with the VP of DEI for Compass Group NA, business clients, and HR leaders to drive progress, develop, implement, and manage DEI strategies, business plans, initiatives, programs, and long-range goals. Compass Group USA is committed to continue its journey and navigate through this critical time to ensure we are crafting and encouraging a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment. This position reports directly to the SVP of Global Strategy Operations and will be based in Washington, DC.


The VP of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for Compass One will support one of our largest key accounts at Compass Group NA – a Fortune 5 tech giant with a “Best in Class” food service program. This VP of DEI role offers an outstanding opportunity to drive impactful enterprise-wide business initiatives with a Top 5 Global Client.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic and tactical leadership aligned with company values and inclusive culture on all DEI programs, initiatives, and strategies.
  • Champion best practices, stay abreast of DEI trends, and be a brand ambassador for Compass Group to support attracting talent and third-party vendors.
  • Actively collaborate with multiple DEI teams including, but not limited to Compass Group, Thompson Hospitality, and client DEI teams to identify and demonstrate organizational resources across our businesses, regions, and functions to inform and support the DEI strategy.
  • Support DEI objectives with comprehensive measurements/metrics and conduct analysis to understand DEI insights, identify key areas of opportunity and recommend actions in support of Sectors and Compass Group overall.
  • Play an active role in the community, identifying and establishing relationships and partnerships that enable Compass to make a difference throughout the communities we serve.
  • Provide leadership management and serve as advisor to Empowerment Resource Groups (ERG) programs and propel inclusion efforts of existing or new ERGs to broaden reach and efficiency of such groups.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for partners like Talent & Development specifically for the development of best-in-class DEI training and courseware. SME to ensure DEI principles and standard processes are embedded in all leadership development programming.
  • Partner, influence, and engage with senior and executive leaders to implement DEI Strategic Plan in accordance with Compass Group NA DEI pillars of impact and organizational practices.
  • Proactively identify, address, and communicate project/program impact, risks, and opportunities, and identify alternative ways to empower leaders to achieve project/program goals.
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition, Talent Management & Development, Communications, Supplier Diversity, and Sustainability teams to integrate the DEI initiatives into the overall talent, learning, and supplier strategies.


What you bring to the table:

  • Strong project/program management experience. Experience in working in highly matrixed or sectorized organization.
  • Minimum 4-5 years’ experience in Diversity and Inclusion partnership/leadership role
  • Strong analytical skills, including confidence working with numerical data and performing data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience with diversity, cultural proficiencies, laws, and regulations pertaining to equal employment opportunity and supplier diversity.
  • Must possess a strong passion to provide a safe, diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for all Compass Associates.
  • Strong communication, executive presentation skills, and facilitation skills.
  • Experience in promoting an employer brand using both digital and traditional media.
  • Listen and influence with compassion and encourage others to be the difference.
  • Solid understanding of diversity standard methodologies, concepts, and programs.
  • Positive relationship building skills as well as a collaborative spirit – must be able to partner with peers and colleagues throughout HR as well as the business.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business or human resources related field. Postgraduate certifications or ongoing education in the same discipline(s) and highly preferred.
  • Ability to travel as required (projected about 20 - 25%).
