Job Description
Job Summary
The Vice President of Lab Design & Furniture manages both the sales and operational teams with the goal of achieving IOP of the Furniture and Lab Design business segment. This involves daily guidance of the field sales specialists, operational leaders in the Texas design center, and regular communication with key suppliers for the division. As well, must maintain strong relationships with the GSO (General Sales Organization) as well as customers in the market. Lastly must remain both tactical and strategic to ensure the division remains nimble, able to adjust to changing market factors, economic conditions, and competitive pressures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leverage available resources to effectively implement company marketing plan, strategies and sales processes.
  • Supports the sales pipeline and developing/delivering proposals to customers by illustrating Avantor’s value proposition.
  • Must collaborate and partner with sales management team and category management team in driving Avantor’s portfolio and implementing business strategies to drive growth.
  • Uses the tools available i.e QlikView, Salesforce.com, ProjectPlace, etc. to generate reports, track and analyze business to support the growth and management of the business.
  • Develop relationships and facilitate C-Suite level presentations to end customers.
  • Hires, trains, directs, mentors, and manages the team to achieve the assigned goals of the Lab design and Furniture team.  
  • Travels regularly to the Design Center in Texas to manage and lead the local team.
  • Accountable for continual tracking and analysis of business performance against the plan(s) to ensure successful delivery and execution.
  • Oversee matrix-selling environment tailored to maximize market segment growth.
  • Benchmark competitive market landscape to understand Avantor’s market position.
  • Accountable for value proposition, sales and installation to meet and exceed customer requirements.
  • Visits regularly with customers and attends tradeshows to support the advancement of the Furniture projects and understands trends in the market.
  • This position has management and implementation responsibilities for executing the divisional goals and business development initiatives to achieve Internal Operating Plan.
  • Maintains positive and constructive relationships with Suppliers through regular visits and business reviews.
Qualifications: 
  • 10+ years of applicable experience.
  • Management experience is mandatory.
  • College degree required.
  • Experience and leadership in successful business development; track record of delivering results in matrix-management organizational structure.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 
  • Strong computer skills in utilizing MS Office package, Salesforce, Qlikview, ProjectPlace etc.
  • Works well independently and within a team environment.
  • Track record of delivering results in leadership roles.
  • Knowledge of Avantor’s management philosophy and capabilities
  • Ability to maintain strong relationships with Avantor stakeholders, customers, suppliers, and other industry colleagues.
  • Superior skills in analysis, planning, organization, communication, execution, and follow-up.
  • Ability to travel up to 75%
  • Executive presence – able to speak to and conduct business with all levels within an organization, exhibiting superior speaking ability and presentation skills, detail oriented and highly proficient in aligning objective and developing productive professional relationships.
  • Strong leadership and management skills
