Description

Scooter’s Coffee is looking for a Vice President, Distribution. The Vice President, Distribution will partner with the Senior Vice President, Supply Chain to develop a strategic plan to support Scooter's Coffee's fast paced growth by building and advancing its national distribution network. They will have ultimate responsibility for the day-to-day success of distribution business from end to end including compliance, safety, warehousing, transportation, inventory, and supply chain systems incorporating the latest software and technology for the management of warehouse services, inventory, transportation and logistics in support of the Company’s strategic, operational and annual growth plans. This role will lead the development and execution of Scooter’s Coffee national distribution strategy and build a high-functioning team and infrastructure to support a high service level for our franchise store network. The Vice President, Distribution must set appropriate metrics and targets, lead with humility, and empower distribution team to higher service rates and lower lead time and support an overall acceleration of new store growth.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify, plan, and optimize a clear growth path for Scooter’s Coffee distribution network in partnership with franchise development team. Analyze data, recognize trends, and formulate ideas to expand capacity and achieve significant growth
  • Responsible for creating a culture of care and collaboration within the distribution sites and transportation team.
  • Prepares and manages the annual distribution operating budget and manages a system of controls to ensure service levels and operational performance goals are met within prescribed cost, revenue, and profit parameters
  • Collaborate with functional areas throughout the company including finance, legal, and operations
  • Actively supports the mission, core values and goals of Scooter’s Coffee
  • Ability to inspire trust and confidence in others and is open to feedback and alternative points of view
  • Maintains knowledge of industry trends and best practices, understanding the current landscape and promoting the continuous review of activities within distribution functions including relevant technology, processes, and regulations to ensure processes are continually improved to promote safety, accuracy, quality, and efficiency
  • Maintain accountability and performance of team's results through frequent reporting of KPIs and metrics to company leadership
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Drives a culture of compliance with internal/external policies and regulations by ensuring all the required inspections and audits are completed timely, accurately and with all necessary detail. Including, but not limited to, food safety documentation, DOT records, OSHA.
  • Develop Transportation short- and long-term strategies with private leased fleet (90%) and 3PL partners to handle current and future business requirements to internal and external customer.
  • Lead Scooter’s Coffee national distribution network of current distribution centers and delivery drivers in Omaha, NE, Kansas City, MO, Dallas, TX, Atlanta, GA and future distribution centers
  • Drives a collaborative effort with the executive leadership team in building the business case for expansion, modernization and facility reconfiguration to guarantee proper storage, receiving and shipping capabilities for present and future business.
  • Develop franchisee success through partnership, collaboration, and consulting
  • Deliver exceptional Customer Service through on time delivery and full delivery.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines simultaneously. Possesses a strong sense of urgency and a high level of detail. Must be organized, disciplined, and able to work under pressure
  • Proven decision maker who formulates pragmatic policy and planning recommendations and who has successfully guided courses of action in a high growth operation
  • At monthly Discovery Day, speak to and answer any questions on the distribution support functions provided to prospective franchisees
  • Develop and maintain economical and efficient private fleet and purchased transportation services. Accountable for standardized methodology in preventative maintenance and parts or supplies programs
  • Partners with other key functional teams to ensure the uninterrupted operation of mission critical distribution and systems including business continuity plans

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, retain, and develop a world class distribution team
  • Proven management and leadership experience within distribution environment, preferably in food service distribution or franchised QSR industry
  • 8+ years experience in a strategic, senior leadership role
  • Food service distribution and final mile experience strongly preferred
  • 5+ years experience with a food service distributor network
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
  • Demonstrated experience leading fast paced growth and development
  • 10+ years of Logistics or Distribution experience
  • Experience in a high growth brand a plus
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced, high growth environment
  • Strong communication skills within all levels of an organization including communication with C-Suite, vendors, franchisees, and team
