The Chief Academic Officer will be responsible for developing the strategy for Sentara Health’s participation in and support of academic training programs, including pre-clinical student mentorships, health professional student training, graduate medical education programs, and other academic program partnerships important to the success and growth of the company. The CAO will work with external and internal leaders of academic institutions to ensure that programs have the support and structure necessary to train an adequate number of high-quality, health professionals to meet the anticipated needs of the community and region.


Job Summary

Qualifications:


MD - Doctor of Medicine (Required)


Basic Life Support (BLS) - Other/National


Experience in academic environment including publications, Experience in Academic Medicine, Experience in writing and managing grants (as PI) for external funding, Experience writing peer-reviewed original research, Increasing leadership experience for hospital, medical group or health system, Medical Doctor, National or International presentations related to research, teaching, or other healthcare leadership activities.
