Job Description
Position: Transaction Clerk


Department: Retail Banking


Reports To: ACH Department Supervisors and Managers


Office Location: 42nd Street Office; Retail Banking (7th Floor)


Job Summary


Accurately and efficiently process and record account transactions on the Emigrant Teller System for Retail Banking Departments and customer mail transactions, These include funding new accounts, issuing Official Checks, posting deposits and withdrawals, processing loan payments and money transfers. Administrative duties include making copies and filing account documents. This position does not have direct contact with customers, only Emigrant employees. The account transactions do not involve cash.


Job Specific Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Assist with copying and filing account documents.
  • Process transfers between Emigrant accounts.
  • Balance daily work and prepare required forms in accordance with standard procedures, as well as securing transaction records in the appropriate repository.
  • Process installment loan and overdraft line of credit payments.
  • Image and prove incoming customer checks.
  • Process transactions for Internet Banks.
  • Post General Ledger account transfers.
  • Use calculators to verify and record transactions.
  • Posting high-volume initial deposits to new Pension and Lease Security accounts.
  • Provide support to internal Retail Banking Departments using the Emigrant Teller System:
  • Process closeout transactions and issue Official Checks.
  • Post wire transfers.
  • Post mail transactions and issue appropriate receipts.

  • Represent company as a professional in appearance and manner. Written and oral communication to be done with the highest level of professionalism and integrity.
  • Complete company required training courses as assigned.
  • Manage customer/account documents and information in an organized, efficient and secure manner.
  • Quality and quantity of duties to be performed as expected for position.


Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Six months to one year related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
