Trader, Securities Lending

What is the Opportunity?

Joining the Securities Lending Team in New York, the candidate will be part of a team that manages the equity and multi asset funding for Global Equities, Wealth Management and Quantitative Strategies teams as well as its own customers.

What will you do?

• Manage relevant desk data and prepare reports for the desk and other internal RBC departments
• Manage the full life cycle of the borrowing and lending process including:
• To conduct equity borrowing and lending activities in support of RBC Global Markets trading, underwriting and hedging activities
• Ensure all transactions comply at all times with local laws, regulation, and rules, including those of the central securities depositories, such as DTC and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York
• Provide colour and market insight to Traders and Customers
• Trade bookings, both cash and non cash, using the departments Order Management system and related technology
• Provide locates to Traders and Customers
• Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions on a timely basis.
• Proactively identify operational risks/ control deficiencies in the business
• Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities
• To develop and foster strong working relationship with key contacts throughout RBC
• Interface with Securities Lending counterparts, including relationship development and frequent interaction

Working Conditions:

• Trading floor environment which can be fast paced and requires quick turnaround and decision making while maintaining high degree of accuracy
• Workday starts at 630am and will extend past normal market hours

What do you need to succeed?

Basic Qualifications:

• Trading licenses as determined by Compliance
• University degree: BA, MBA, MA, or MS or equivalent
• Series 7 & 63

Other Required Qualifications:

• 1-3 years of experience in the Financial markets
• Basic financial markets knowledge
• Strong Excel or equivalent programming skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to interact with customers
• Strong team player

Behavioral Competencies:

• This individual must have the ability to perform under periods of pressure.
• Good communications skills are essential
• Discipline and strong work ethic
• Ability to take direction and initiative

Technical Competencies:

• Strong coding skills (Python) or Excel would be preferred

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $195,000- $210,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
