Primary Job Duties And Responsibilities (Essential Job Function)

The tariff and compliance analyst position develops and recommends policies, terms and conditions of service that are customer focused. Works closely with internal stakeholders including legal, engineering, information technology, billing, gas supply, operations, and key account managers to interpret and ensure proper application of existing tariffs and develops and implements new or revised tariffs. Develops and maintains a communication and training plan to help ensure regulatory compliance and consistency in tariff application. Manages coordination of internal stakeholder input to ensure filings are completed in a thorough and timely manner. (40%)

Interprets and reviews proposed regulations, rule makings and regulatory orders. Prepares comments and makes recommendations regarding company responses. Responsible for review and interpretation of regulatory and other industry developments and recommends regulatory strategies. Analyzes filings by other companies in states served by MidAmerican Energy Company to identify issues that may impact MidAmerican Energy Company. Contacts other stakeholders regarding items of mutual interest. (25%)

Informs and advises business unit management on the impact of regulatory related activities both internally and externally. Manages and coordinates regulatory related compliance and process reviews and provides recommendations to management. (10%)

Testifies in regulatory proceedings and prepares analyses, exhibits, and data responses for presentation to regulatory agencies. (10%)

Establishes and maintains relationships with regulatory and consumer advocate staffs to allow exchange of information and presentation of company positions. (5%)

Performs additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (5%)

Hiring Range

$74,300-$115,500

Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, engineering, mathematics, economics or a related field. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)

Minimum two years of prior work experience in the utility or a related field required for the Tariff and Compliance Analyst I level.

Minimum four years of prior work experience in the utility or a related field required for the Tariff and Compliance Analyst I level.

Minimum six years of prior work experience with utility rates or a related field, including one year in a senior/technical leadership role.

Superior analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills to analyze regulatory decisions, and provide advice and recommend company positions.

Effective oral and written communication skills and effective presentation skills.

Computer skills must include spreadsheet and word processing applications. Experience with database applications or advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access is a plus.

Influencing skills to persuade, direct, lead opinion and negotiate.

Long-term planning skills to interpret industry trends, regulatory and customer requirements and corporate objectives.

Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
