Brandes Associates Inc. (BAI), a Defense contractor, seeks Systems Test Engineers with 3-10 years experience for classified programs, working onsite at Point Mugu Naval Air Station in Camarillo, CA.

Salary

$90,000.00 USD to $130,000.00 USD is the typical annual salary range for this position. Salary will be based on current qualifications, directly related experience, geographic location, and possible contractual requirements which could fall outside of this range.

• Determine resource and equipment needs for systems integration and test; provide labor and schedule estimates for product support; prioritize tasking to support customer schedules
• Participate in systems requirements discussions and Engineering Design Reviews to help drive systems design and the implementation of test methodologies and guidelines
• Document hardware and software systems malfunctions and defects using a bug tracking system; report defects to systems developers; track, test, and report on defect resolution
• The position involves testing multiple computer systems, operating systems, and application software packages in a classified networked environment; managing the test projects to include determining the test methodology, executing the tests, and writing test plans and reports; participating in systems design, integration, and troubleshooting; and contributing to advanced technology development
• Work at the customer's site with government personnel to ensure program success
• Execute systems tests to verify design and requirements implementation to include quick-look, functional, regression, and scenario-based testing
• Write comprehensive test reports documenting test results and systems anomalies; provide end-user suitability recommendations; manage the test reports through the approval process; draft supporting documentation capturing the entire test effort
• Run Systems Engineering Review Boards to discuss, analyze, and disposition reported defects
• Assess systems, project, and schedule risks and help develop mitigation plans
• Develop systems and software test procedures, write test plans, and create test cases based on requirements and design documentation
• Participate in system installation and configuration; diagnose, analyze, and solve problems discovered during system setup and developmental testing
• Must be a self-starter, comfortable working independently, but also a team player with good communication skills. Strong time management skills required; must be organized and detail oriented
• Review technical architecture documents, design and user documentation, product specifications and requirements; identify documentation defects and suggest corrections
• Between 3 to 10 years of experience performing the duties described under “Responsibilities”
• Assess compliance with requirements, design goals, security, systems performance, and usability; identify systems and software defects and analyze their causes
• Prepare, execute, and evaluate enhanced developmental test events involving end-user participation

Brandes Associates Inc. is seeking a Systems Engineer with 3-10 years experience for classified programs, working onsite to work with the Multi-Spectral Defensive Electronic Warfare Systems Support Activity (MDEWSSA) Integrated Product Team (IPT) at NAVAIR Weapons Division, Point Mugu, CA.

Salary

$100,000.00 USD to $140,000.00 USD is the typical annual salary range for this position. Salary will be based on current qualifications, directly related experience, geographic location, and possible contractual requirements which could fall outside of this range.

• Knowledge of Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programs is a plus
• Test planning, identifying resources required, and executing the test
• Prepare and provide training to different level of Military Aircrew personnel, other DoD agencies, and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customers on the operation/application of EW systems and use of development tools
• Experience with airborne Electronic Warfare (EW) and Radio Frequency (RF) systems is a plus
• Write and update intermediate and final technical documents including system requirements and design specifications/documents, white papers, and engineering notes
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills—verbal, non-verbal, written, and listening—for staff, customer, and organizational level communications, both formal and informal
• Ability to work independently or lead a small team, self-starter
• Evaluate and analyze system performance
• Conduct system performance tests against simulation assets to assess performance
• Travel as required to support technical meetings and test events
• Generate/update the required technical documentation (e.g., User Manual, Test Reports, Version Description Documents)
• Troubleshoot and investigate Operational Flight Program (OFP) integration issues, determine root cause
• Support EW suite integration testing and troubleshooting
• Review and provide input to Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP) and witness the ATP at the developer’s facility
• Generating test reports in accordance with the current MDEWSSA IPT processes
• Participate in project related meetings (i.e., milestone reviews, status, design), and host and conduct technical meetings and teleconferences
• Document any defect found during testing using the Defect Management Database
• Provide EW systems (i.e., ALR-67, APR-39, AAQ-24, AAQ-45 and ALQ-214) requirements to system developers
• Prepare and/or conduct briefings for technical reviews and meetings
• Identification of system requirements
• Experience applying EVM to measure project performance (planned and actual) is a plus
• Working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Project, MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
• Software-related experience with Visual Studio to program in C++ and C#; and IntelliJ for programming in Java is a plus
• Participate in training on-the-job for Foreign Military Sales (FMS) sanitization
• Conduct an Engineering Review Board (ERB) at the end of each test segment or period
• Develop/manage system and Operational Flight Program (OFP) requirements
• Test and validate the Operational Flight Program (OFP) and the Mission Data File (MDF) for the EW Systems
• Investigate defects/discrepancies and document them as System Anomaly Reports (SARs)/Software Trouble Report (STRs) and enter into Defect Management System (DMS)
• Between 3 and 10 years of experience performing the duties described in the functional description
• Support aircraft flight test activities and post flight analysis

Education

BS or BA degree in Engineering

• To be acceptable, the curriculum must (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
