THE ROLE: The RF Field Engineer support our utilities industry customers throughout the western United States. This position will be responsible for providing high quality billable professional services such as RF site surveys, wireless network installations, training, and programming to the business and our partner’s customers. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Preform post installation certification to assure compliance with manufactures specifications
  • This position is responsible for the execution of FlexNet RF network deployment projects, RF communication equipment maintenance, certification, wide band noise identification and mitigation, and site surveys for equipment installation.
  • Support routine meetings to help solidify projected versus actual field performance metrics.
  • Interact with all levels of the customer organization and coordinate the activities of the business, sub-contractor and customer personnel assigned to the network installation and maintenance of a project.
  • Interact with multi-disciplinary groups, our partners and customers.
  • Perform field upgrades of hardware, software, and firmware.
  • Responsible for RF network design support, installation and configuration for all RF network deployments, operations and maintenance, customer interface, third party installation contractor support, network deployment, optimization, and customer acceptance.
  • Schedule and conduct periodic system performance reviews, perform scheduled maintenance and operational tests.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of IP v4 and IPv6 networking, ability to configure modems/ routers, in addition to simple firewall policies/Access Lists.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Experienced in the use of spectrum analyzers, signal generators, RF filters, watt-meters, multi-meters and other standard test equipment types.
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix, JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) and MS Windows.
  • Demonstrated ability to determine key technical issues and develop appropriate corrective plan of action.
  • Ability to review/ interpret propagation studies and execute the installation per the design.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Telecommunications; or equivalent experience is required.
  • Ability to provide high quality solutions to technical challenges.
  • Familiarity with FCC Part 24 and Canadian RSS-134 Narrow-Band Personal Communications Service (NBPCS) or FCC Part 101 and Canadian RSS-119 Multiple Access Systems (MAS), or ITU Article 5-50.
  • Ability to work independently as well as function as a project team member.

DAY IN THE LIFE:
This role may require travel up to 75%. At times the role will require the use of an arial lift device such as bucket trucks, man lifts or platform lifts.

SALARY:

The estimated salary range for this position is $87,500 to $96,000. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience, and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
