Implement the Quality procedures and activities needed to prevent non-conforming software or firmware from being designed, produced, or shipped. This will include software/firmware which is used in products which will be delivered to customers, software/firmware which is used to control testing of products delivered to customers, and any special applications software/firmware whose output will be made available to distributors or customers.
- Master's detailed mathematical checks of formulas and equations used for calculation of volume and mass quantities per project’s internationally recognized standards for measurement systems.
- Learns to master and perform calibration of electrical and mechanical equipment associated with control console, meter and prover skids.
- Generate detailed punch lists of hardware and software discrepancies to be submitted to appropriate parties (project engineering and software personnel) for resolution. The results of these tests are recorded and become part of the Job Documentation.
- Assist with technical assistance to customers with problems requiring intimate technical knowledge of systems and products.
- Test the product to verify that it correctly performs all functions required by the Software Functional Specification.
- Inspect the software code to assure it meets standards and product specifications.
- Master's demonstration of operation of Systems to customer and/or third-party inspectors representing the customer. This may include customer training related to system operation.
- Analyze all test data to verify that all computations performed by the software/firmware are correct.
- Generate a Test Report which lists all errors or problems found in the software. Distribute the Report to the Engineering Managers, the Software Engineers responsible for the product.
- Assists with project-specific witness test procedures (Factory Acceptance Tests, etc.) to be used as documents of system acceptance between customer and FMC/MS-CRP, TX.
- Learns the construction and configuration of special hardware for engineering and/or software departments for use in development of systems prior to actual system construction.
- Assists with test procedures to ensure that all aspects of the Meter/Prover/Computer System are tested.
- Check “As-Built” drawings reflecting any changes made to systems during the test phase of the project by the Test Technicians.
- Review the Software design as it is described in the Software Functional Specification. Report any discrepancies or problems found to the Engineering Managers and Software Engineers responsible for the product.
- Learns to inspect Systems to ensure electrical and mechanical equipment associated with control console meets appropriate specification.
- Assist Service Department with problems during the commissioning phase of projects. Including travel to installation site if necessary.
- Learns to test computer systems used for System controls to include both hardware and software. As required – provide instructions to Field Service Engineer and others as they participate in conducting system test activities.
- Learns to reconfigure Systems for proper operation of electrical and mechanical equipment associated with control console. Changes may be the result of personal assessment of the situation or consultation with the Engineering Department.
- Develop or acquire hardware and test software needed to completely exercise all functions of the product firmware.
- Generate formal reports detailing results and problems encountered during system testing and inspection (DCNs, Discrepancy Reports, Inspection Reports, End-of Job Reports).
- Assist with consulting with the Engineering Departments for technical matters concerning systems and products.
- Knowledge of Positive Displacement, Turbine and Ultrasonic flow meters, provers, meter proving, instrumentation and Metrology.
- Ability to read and understanding engineering drawings and documents.
- Understanding of the technologies and methods used in metering systems.
- To use a PC, including loading and using various applications that communicate with electronic instruments.
- Comfortable using test, diagnostic, and simulation equipment.
- Oral and written communication
- API Temperature and Pressure Compensation methods, ASTM and ISO-17025 Standards
- Capable of designing Digital and Analog Electronic circuitry for test fixtures.
- Company, customer, and personal safety procedures and processes are respected and followed.
- Overall understanding of metering systems hardware, i.e. measurement devices, provers, valves, instruments, etc.
- Working knowledge with PC communications Protocols ie Modbus, TCP/IP(Internet Protocol). Familiar with SQL and Access Databases.
- Observant with attention to details.
- The ability to effectively communicate observations to others.
- Familiarity with measurement standards and practices.
- Working knowledge with Programmable Logic Controllers and Ladder Logic.
- Comfortable with using/configuring electronic devices and instruments.
- 5 years of programming and testing of assembly language programs.
- Proficient with Quality related Statistics.
- Working knowledge with Personal Computers and high-level languages such as Pascal, Basic, “C.”, C++.NET, and LabView.
- Strong analytical background.
- BS in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mathematics.
- Quality of work is personally important.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Spends the majority of working time in the Houston testing area, a temperature-controlled environment, a good working climate. On occasion, travel to a client’s site or visit a sub-contract fabricator to provide needed expertise and/or reviews will be required. This could subject oneself to the normal field experiences: high noise levels, heavy machinery, bad weather conditions, environmental hazards, truck terminal traffic, and unknown hazards – safety equipment will be required. There is a potential to be called upon for domestic and international travel.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Office environment requires sitting, operating a computer, operating test equipment like multimeter or Hart communicator, walking and some lifting. Some potential exposure to possible shop hazards when visiting the shop/field environment that includes high noise, heavy machinery, and shop traffic with proper PPE.
