Job Description
Summary:


The Chief of Staff reporting to President/ CEO of Lifespan acts as a strategic advisor partner and confidante and assist in navigating strategic issues identifying and troubleshooting risks and achieving the goals of the system. The SVP Chief of Staff will work closely with senior leadership across the system to assist in driving successful execution of strategic business initiatives. Review design and execute improvements to organizational structure. Uses sound professional judgement use of diplomacy and responsiveness to inquiries and requests from a broad range of internal and external stakeholders. Manage communications with the Board and key stakeholders enabling the integration and communication among the system's various entities (including hospitals urgent care centers medical group practices etc.) Improve current processes and optimize organizational procedures for efficiency and productivity.

Responsibilities:


Advise oversee and collaborate on highly complex projects to ensure the successful implementation and execution of organizational initiatives. Unite senior leadership team around key organizational initiatives.


Facilitate the preparation and disbursement of communication from the executive office embodying inclusive practices. Serve as an organizational spokesperson liaising with key internal and external constituents. Assist and communicate with executives in decision-making program management building equity and initiative implementation. Manage inquiries develop responsive action plans and manage communications.


Brief the President/CEO for meetings proactively review the calendar with the executive team complete advance preparations and request necessary briefings agendas presentation decks and other documents.


Produce high quality materials that effectively convey messages to internal and external audiences; produce effective communication tools and resources.


Serve as a liaison to the members of the Board of Trustees and ensure members are engaged prepared and positioned to utilize their talents and skills to advance the mission and goals of Lifespan. Manage the Board meeting agenda cadence topics minutes and necessary follow-up.


Oversee and lead other key departments including Marketing and Communications Government Affairs and Development to ensure their collaborative strategy supports Lifespans' overall objectives.


Monitor industry developments and local/national news to ensure the President/CEO is well-informed on current and emerging issues.


Performs other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

Bachelors degree in business administration finance or similar field required MBA MHA or similar graduate degree preferred.


Ten or more years of progressively responsible experience in a senior business management or executive role.


Proven track record of successful management leadership and decision making in a highly matrixed and collaborative organizational environment.


Excellent interpersonal communication and diplomacy skills and executive presence.


Demonstrated ability to lead/influence diverse personalities and drive consensus to achieve organizational strategic goals.


Ability to think and act creatively championing and promoting new ideas that contribute to the success of the organization.


Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills and sound professional judgment and discretion to lead in complex changing and ambiguous environments.


Ability to work cooperatively and strategically in a team environment with all levels of professional technical and administrative staff.


Accountable for delivering high quality often time-sensitive work; act with ownership and accountability.


Adheres to Code of Ethics in times of ease and discomfort.
