Overview
A member of the leadership team, and strategic lieutenant to the CEO, the Chief of Staff is responsible for driving key initiatives, strategic goal development and execution, new process development, strategic projects, capital raise support, and talent recruitment, retention and development across all BlackIvy Group ventures.

Qualifications
  • At least 10 years related work experience.
  • Demonstrated interest in building businesses.
  • Undergraduate degree required; MBA or MS/MA helpful.
  • Experience working as a Chief of Staff, or as part of a Chief of Staff or Strategy and Operations team for high-profile executive or campaign.
  • Natural alignment with the values of the BlackIvy Group: imagination, relentlessness, courage, forthrightness, partnership and humility.
  • Experience leading work consisting of structured problem solving, quantitative analysis, public presentations, and executive-level synthesis.
  • Working experience in Venture Capital, Private Equity, Capital Asset Management, or related.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing and executing standardized business processes.
  • Success in talent acquisition and development.
  • Ability to think strategically about new projects and simultaneously go deep into execution details for building and improving new systems, processes, execution and outcomes.
  • A penchant for creative and structured problem solving, leveraging internal and external resources to build innovative outcomes, processes and tools with quantifiable impact.
  • Experience organizing and leading the operations of small and medium-sized teams, including remote teams.
  • Demonstrated capacity for long-term strategic thinking balanced with near-term execution; an ability to distill complexity into meaningful insights and a coherent story.
Responsibilities
  • Support the work of the CEO and fully leverage her time, in part by standing in for her as needed on individual projects, meetings and conferences
  • Lead talent acquisition, talent development, and employee engagement and relations supported by HR Managers
  • Help the organization by continuously improving our team’s effectiveness through regular pulse surveys and data gathering
  • Optimize organizational meetings by establishing the right cadence, building agendas, curating content, and capturing and tracking KPIs
  • Build, track, and update BlackIvy’s annual strategic narrative, including establishing and tracking goals with business line leaders and codifying ongoing learnings to be shared in quarterly executive reviews
  • Identify key opportunities for operational improvements through new methodologies, tools, templates, dashboards, and processes
  • Keep entire organization informed and empowered by establishing, maintaining, and improving regular internal communications vehicles
  • Travel to Africa as needed in support of duties and the CEO
  • Take on leadership of strategic projects and initiatives, at the direction of the CEO
  • Build relationships with the BlackIvy family leadership across the globe, and serve as an added resource to support the work of those teams — be a first call on issues as appropriate
  • Support capital raising through the creation of presentations as well as due diligence for planned acquisitions or expansions
  • Provide a point of contact and be connective tissue across BlackIvy ventures and partners (including investors as needed)
