Summary
The Office of Admissions at Iowa State is seeking a Student Recruiter I/II to join their team. This position specializes in recruiting transfer students primarily from community colleges in Iowa and surrounding states.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong public speaking/presentation skills, the ability to accurately review academic records, professional-level use of Microsoft Office suite and presentation software. The candidate will also possess the ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds, to work as a team member in a fast-paced dynamic workplace, and to communicate with a wide variety of constituents both on and off campus including, but not limited to, prospective transfer students and families, community college staff and faculty, campus partners, and alumni.
This will be filled at the Student Recruiter I or II level, depending on the candidate's experience.
Student Recruiter I Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's Degree and is a PS805 pay level.
Student Recruiter II Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience and is a PS806 pay level.
Level I and II Example of Duties
- Recruits prospective students from community colleges (and sometimes high schools)
- Manages student inquiries and CRM cases
- Assists with or plans events including student open houses, visits, tours, and off-site events
- Travels to transfer fairs, college fairs, and other community college events
- Counsels students and family members regarding the admission process
- Assists with large on-campus recruitment activities and events
- Supports and may develop programs in areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion
Level I Level Guidelines
- Individual contributor position with developing professional and/or technical skills working under immediate to general supervision
- Grasps professional-level knowledge and concepts of field while working in a progressive learning mode
- Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data for which answers are available or can be obtained
- May lead projects of limited scope and complexity
- Responds to inquiries and issues, escalating to manager or higher level workers as appropriate
- May provide guidance to students
- Works on problems and issues of somewhat limited scope
Level II Level Guidelines
- Intermediate-level position with solid professional and/or technical skills working under general supervision to achieve goals
- Applies broad, working knowledge of the principles of the field to moderately complex, difficult, and varied problems and issues
- Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems
- Responds to a broad range of inquiries and requests
- May provide training and/or direction to lower-level staff
- May lead projects of moderate scope and complexity
- Provides guidance to students
