Salary: $42,000 based on experience

What you’ll be doing:

You will be working as part of the Logistics and Compliance Department to oversee all aspects of export operations and trade compliance for Staples Promotional Products. In general, you will review a customer’s order to see if any of the parties are blacklisted; review US and/or Canadian export regulations and SPP Policy to determine what goods may be exported where; classify the products with the Schedule B tariff; work up duty and freight cost estimates for shipping these goods for all modes of transit (air, ocean, ground); send estimates to customers for approval; prepare export documentation such as commercial invoices, packing list, Certificate of Origin, etc.; interact with the shipping teams as necessary; track shipments with carriers once the goods ship; work with carriers, foreign receivers, and foreign customs to resolve any issues in the transport or clearance of goods; and create and maintain export records as required. Throughout this process, you will be communicating with your fellow associates, customers, and supervisor. There will be times when you will be tasked with similar duties in support of an import into Canada instead of an export and at other times reviewing and coding international carrier’s invoices for payment, attending or providing training sessions, orchestrating product testing or finding the next new challenge.

• Be able to work as part of a team as well as independently on special projects.

• Ready to exercise your initiative and problem-solving.

• Have intermediate skills in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook

• Be able to communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written forms.
