POSITION TITLE: Sr Retail Designer

Purpose
The position will contribute to the success of AEO by supporting the retail design process, inclusive of all phases from schematic through construction. This individual is responsible for designing and managing retail projects by applying knowledge of architecture, interior design, and construction. This individual will closely collaborate with the cross functional teams to ensure the quality realization of new stores.

Responsibilities

• Participate in developing innovative and creative design solutions consistent with brand strategy and merchandising standards.
• Collaborate with Construction to resolve programming needs according to our budgets and project schedules
• Adapt current brand design to perform feasibility layouts for new retail spaces. Manage the schematic design process and prepare drawings, renderings, and other presentation materials as required for internal design reviews.
• Be curious, be brave with a strong Design Ethos.
• Communicate between landlord / building department representatives to obtain project approvals/permits.
• Partner and coordinate design activities with internal stakeholders, architects, engineers, suppliers, and millwork vendors as required for new retail spaces to ensure project criteria is met.

Qualifications

• Ability to effectively present and communicate store design + scope to cross-functional teams.
• General understanding of building codes.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in Retail Design, Store Planning, Architecture, or equivalent required.
• Ability to understand & visualize architectural details,
• General understanding of HVAC, electrical, & plumbing drawings.
• Proficiency with Autocad, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Familiarity with 3D rendering and Vray a plus
• Possess direct progressive experience in retail concepts, branded architecture with a major retail company.
• Self-motivated with critical attention to detail and reporting.
• Strong Analytical & creative problem solving skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or equivalent mandatory
• Knowledge of Millwork and Retail Fixture standards and details
• Demonstrates collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team.
• Proficient knowledge of Architectural Drawing details and Means & Methods
• Ability to multi task through aggressive schedules in a very fast paced environment
