Description
SUMMARY:
The Senior Director, Advocacy and Brand Public Relations, is responsible for the creation of innovative strategies and tactical execution relating to partnerships with patient advocacy organizations, consumers, and professional medical associations. Tailored advocacy and public affairs strategies and collaborations may include patient, parent, and HCP educational programs, awareness initiatives, patient advisory boards, patient speaker engagements, school programs, and programs for patients without access and other initiatives as they arise. This position will report to and partner closely with the Chief Commercial Officer to ensure strategies, tactical plans, and decisions are aligned to achieve corporate and brand objectives. This role will work cross-functionally with other internal functions, including marketing, brand strategy, market access, medical, and legal, to ensure alignment and progress around our corporate goals and objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Engages and collaborates with key organizations serving a high population of those with Type 1 severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, including schools, prisons, law enforcement, public transportation, etc.
  • Drives efforts to ensure a diverse representation of perspectives in all advocacy activities.
  • Builds important social media community relationships and trust to support community education about our products, including celebrity spokespersons, social media influencers, etc.
  • Builds and maintains collaborative, mutually beneficial partnerships with key patient advocacy and professional medical associations, increasing external awareness of ARS Pharma and it's products.
  • Manages strategic patient engagement for products and leverages patient insights learned from the patient community to influence and shape educational awareness and product adoption in the US.
  • Collaborates with the internal cross-functional team and state government affairs agency partners to support the execution of the strategic and tactical plan and identify opportunities for engagement with external partners.
  • Creates overall vision and strategy as it relates to advocacy and public affairs, including tactical plans for social media, media engagement, influencers/bloggers, and celebrity spokesperson.
  • Develops metrics relating to advocacy relations to support the development of the discipline and its internal and external value.
  • Acts as an ambassador for the patient perspective, recognizing the significance of ensuring a patient-centric mindset and relevant engagement.
  • Participates in the planning process as a Commercial team member and creates pre-launch and launch strategies and tactical plans.
  • Leads the team in identifying requirements for and delivering lived experience voices (patients, caregivers, advocates) and product spokesperson to support disease education and product awareness.
  • May be required to travel to San Diego occasionally and engage with advocacy and medical stakeholders at national conferences.
  • Mitigates areas of risk by monitoring key issues and trends and develops strategies to protect and enhance corporate goodwill and reputation.
  • Ensure compliant and transparent stakeholder engagement.
  • Develops initiatives to support the products through effective advocacy relations, emphasizing shared goals between ARS Pharma and priority groups that align business objectives and market dynamics.
  • Responsible for budget management of Advocacy and Brand Public Affairs.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • 15+ years in the pharmaceutical, biotech, device, or diagnostic industry, including five (5) years in public relations, public affairs, advocacy, or related.
  • A bachelor’s degree in the sciences, Business Administration, or related field. Master’s degree preferred. Will consider candidates with additional and equivalent experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Proven ability to prioritize, exhibit critical decision-making, possess learning agility, build relationships, and influence outcomes both with and without authority.
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively influence and lead to results.
  • Possesses strong executive presence and proven experience as a trusted communications advisor to executive leadership.
  • Must have the business acumen and professionalism to achieve internal agreement on strategies and manage interpersonal dynamics.
  • Excellent writer, editor, and storyteller; superior verbal communication skills; proven ability crafting media statements, reports, articles, press releases, educational materials, visual presentations, digital assets, etc.
  • Detail-oriented, self-initiating, well-organized, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs.
  • Understanding of brand needs, including relevant scientific, medical, economic, and policy-related matters related to the therapeutic areas.
  • Must be well-versed and able to apply and integrate organizational dynamics on a regional and national level.
  • Innovative thinker, with a track record for translating strategic thinking into action plans and output
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem solving skills, including negotiation and conflict-resolution skills
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management.
  • Experience in patient advocacy, public relations, government affairs, marketing, or public policy.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% to attend national conferences, and other meetings and events which may include weekend days on occasion.

At ARS, we are proud to offer a highly competitive compensation & benefits package.
The full-time salary range for this posted position is $240,000 to $265,000 and may be eligible for a discretionary annual performance bonus. Actual pay rates are determined by considering multiple factors including, but not limited to, qualifications, relevance of experience, education & credentials, subject matter expertise, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
