Job Description
Job Overview
We are seeking an associate product manager or related professional to join the Marketing Resource Management (MRM) space, focusing on the systems that plan, produce, store, and publish print and digital marketing content. This person will lead the discovery, definition, and agile development of enhancements to these internal customer tools, in collaboration with technical, creative, marketing, merchant, and other colleagues, helping drive the evolution of the MRM vision and strategy for large, cross-functional and/or complex products.
It will be important that this person understands how system enhancements change business processes, and that they can articulate current state processes, identify gaps or pain points in said processes, and incorporate future state needs into their products, being a champion for that product or process. Additionally, the interconnected nature of our systems will require understanding how changes (functional, data, or process) to one system affect applications and teams both up and downstream. The associate product manager will need to define a product's key success metrics, analyze/present metrics post-launch, and quickly act on trends that arise from those metrics.
The normal scope of work will be weighted toward core product functions (requirements gathering, story writing, agile delivery, etc.) on a piece of a larger project and/or enhancements to existing platforms. The product manager will need to be comfortable working independently, while showing a strong interest in growing within product management and a curiosity about marketing technologies.
Essential Functions
Use curiosity, data, and analytical rigor every day to create concise, compelling points of view around product and technology solutions, backlog prioritization, business tradeoffs, and more.
Keep aware of the competitive Martech landscape and internal gaps in order to identify opportunities, build business cases, and socialize new ideas with leadership for approval.
Track feature KPIs, baselines, and targets that are measurable and attainable, tying back to the business case through financial impact and benefits statements.
Keep the internal customer at the forefront of all decisions by gathering input from a variety of internal and external sources to define product requirements with special emphasis on impact to internal applications and related business processes.
Partner on agile delivery and scrum processes with the development team leads, owning user stories, acceptance criteria, backlog prioritization, UAT, and story signoff and communicate / escalate to management any bottlenecks, anticipated / decided trade-offs.
Understand that your products deeply impact business processes: solutions should foster workflow efficiencies and include partnerships to produce comprehensive training/rollout plans.
Manage expectations at all stages of the product lifecycle through clear communication, persuasive narratives, effective presentations, and solution-oriented conversations.
Give foresight into potential dependencies and risks, as well as formulate mitigations.
Manage product(s) backlogs while prioritizing work and making product-related decisions based on KPI and stakeholder impact, as well as technical/time constraints..
Ensure technical teams are in lockstep with your requirements.
Success in this role will look like:
Consistent record of taking ownership of projects, including defining scope, driving results, and rolling up sleeves to get the job done.
Think both high-level and "in the weeds,” with a knack for providing problem-solving recommendations.
Translate customer needs into business and product requirements.
Ability to work hand-in-hand with developers/QA to build a product.
Excel in a fast-paced agile environment and to break through ambiguity.
Solid attention to detail, excellent organization skills, and ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities.
Strong, verbal and written, communication and presentation skills.
Ability to distill complex ideas into concise, consumable explanations.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
BA/BS Degree required.
1-3 years’ experience in one or more of the following areas: product management or another product ownership role; agile software development; business process development or consulting.
Omni-channel retail marketing experience strongly preferred with one or more of the following functions:
Media Production Workflows
Digital Asset Management
Content Management
Media Planning
Photography and Studio Production Management
Experience in the following is not required but is a plus:
Supporting new software integrations or rollouts
Working in an agile environment
Working cross-functionally in a large organization
Reasoning Ability:
Strong analytical, prioritization, and negotiation skills.
Must be able to work independently and make decisions with the best data available.
Additional Skills:
Team player who is a self-starter, independent, and has a bias toward action; able to thrive in fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
Passionate about building great products and solving customer and business problems.
Ability to learn and grasp new concepts quickly.
Creative, open to new ideas.
Work Hours and Location:
Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and store/company needs.
Position is remote with a preference for NY-based applicants.
Travel to central offices expected for fully remote candidates.
