The Opportunity

The primary function of the Logistics Specialist is to take responsibility and perform the day-to-day operational functions of laboratory asset management, service contract renewal, request for capital expenditure, and facility management for the Core Diagnostics R&D Biologics organization. The position will require significant interaction with lab scientists, purchasing, shipping, facility engineering, and asset management.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Assist in Due Diligence activities to provide logistics and planning expertise in the decision-making process.
• Responsible for tracking the status of laboratory equipment service contracts and ensuring timely contract renewal to prevent loss of maintenance service and stay compliant with company quality requirements.
• The incumbent's judgment, technical skills, reasoning, and experience will have a significant impact on Abbott's profitability.
• Responsible for identifying assets, labeling, scheduling, and tracking laboratory equipment maintenance and calibration.
• Recommend process improvements which will positively impact divisional and corporate results.
• Responsible for documenting activities timely and in an objective, accurate, and complete manner as required by Abbott policies and procedures.
• Responsible for initiating facility work for the organization’s laboratories and ensuring work completion in a timely manner.
• Ensure all documentation and training necessary to execute the project plan are complete and meet divisional and corporate quality standards.
• Responsible for shipping biologics materials domestically and internationally, generating the required domestic and international documents, ensuring shipments go out timely, tracking and tracing shipments and informing stakeholders. Responsible for ensuring proper Dangerous Goods paperwork accompanies all applicable shipments.
• Responsible for executing capital equipment purchases. Collaborate with R&D scientists to obtain quotes and necessary forms to initiate the RCE (Request for Capital Equipment), route RCE for approval, create purchasing orders, and coordinate equipment installation.
• Be self-directed to achieve the departmental objectives. Minimal supervision should be required. Have a high degree of freedom to achieve these objectives.
• Needs to maintain constant communication/interaction with internal and external stakeholders to ensure quick responses and satisfactory outcomes.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Required:

• Basic Computer skills.
• B.S. plus 4-6 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred:

• Experience within a lab or chemical/biological environment
• Experience in logistics or supply chain management

The base pay for this position is $46,700.00 – $93,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
