OVERVIEW
As the Sourcing Manager, Transportation your role sits within the Indirect Sourcing team. You are responsible for all aspects of the sourcing process of the categories. You are directly responsible for all aspects of the strategic sourcing process for specific categories within North America. You ensure category compliance and deliver according to performance metrics for your categories including fulfillment of Holistic Margin Management and total value.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to the given audience, present information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong category analytics, should cost modeling and data-driven decision making.
  • Expert project management skills with ability to plan tasks, assign resources, manage progress, remove barriers, manage change, resolve conflict, build consensus, and motivate team members across multiple projects concurrently.
  • Servant leader mindset with the focus on the What as well as the How
  • Global mindset with experience working in an international/multi-cultural matrix environment.
  • Ability to effectively navigate ambiguity and drive for the results.
  • Understanding of logistics category especially trucking, intermodal, brokerage.
  • In-depth Strategic Sourcing expertise with proven track record of continuous Value delivery across balanced scorecard; provide category strategy upstream input.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills, ability to motivate others.
  • Situation leadership and collaboration skills with ability to build effective business relationships and influence peers and stakeholders.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

In this role reporting into Sr Manager Sourcing Transportation, you will serve as an in-house category Expert, responsible for upstream feedback and execution against holistic sourcing category strategy aiming to maximize Value creation within One Global Sourcing (OGS) group and GMI Accelerate Strategy. Specifically, you’ll:
  • Ensure robust contract and spend compliance, adherence to corporate policies.
  • Build continuous Value pipeline and drive relentless execution against balanced scorecard focused on Total Value/Productivity, Service, Quality, Force for Good (incl. GHG) and Innovation
  • Continuously collect market intelligence and trends as it relates to the category, industry best practices and propose innovative solutions.
  • Utilize strategic sourcing best practices to manage E2E competitive bidding process (RFX), develop and execute strategic negotiations, and contracts.
  • Support Transportation Category Owner in developing category strategies
  • Develop preferred suppliers and support SRM program focused on partnering with executive and strategic suppliers to enhance relationships and create Value-add.
  • Closely partner with COE to conduct market intelligence research to identify relevant category benchmarks, should cost modeling and implementation of leading practices.
  • Create a data driven environment to support the decision making, conduct complex should cost modeling, price benchmarking and sensitivity analytics.
  • Supports P2P / Shared Services and all related processes.
  • Learn and leverage continuous improvement tools and processes such as but not limited to BPM, SCM, Annual Planning, Inflation Guidance, Total Value tracking and reporting.
  • Actively foster the culture of inclusivity and belonging.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to develop strategies and lead their execution
  • 5-7+ years of sourcing experience or in related fields relevant to Sourcing categories
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and during times of significant change
  • Proven Project Management skills
  • Solid experience with contract development and complex negotiations, risk management, market analysis, economic analysis, financial analysis
  • Previous experience within logistics category
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Strong executive communication and interpersonal effectiveness
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Economics or related field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • People management experience
  • Experience leading and partnering with cross-functional teams to drive business results
  • Experience working globally in multi-cultural environment
CONSIDERATIONS
  • Occasional travel to the Minnesota headquarters may be required.
  • International relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered.
  • This role is open to remote candidates located in the United States, with a preference for Minneapolis-based candidates.
