Social Media Coordinator – Knicks Gaming / Westchester Knicks

Who are we hiring?
The Social Media Coordinator will support Knicks Gaming, the official NBA 2K League team of MSG Sports and the Westchester Knicks, the NBA G League affiliate team of the New York Knicks, by ideating, creating, publishing, and tracking highly engaging social media content. The candidate will also support the full Knicks portfolio of properties (New York Knicks, Jr. Knicks, Knicks City Dancers). The ideal candidate will possess an understanding of how people digest and engage with social content, an eye for detail, and stay up-to-date on cultural trends and industry best practices. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Social Media Strategy and will collaborate with broader Knicks team, including videographers, creative, business operations, and marketing teams around team coverage, tentpole events, marketing partnerships, community programs, and more.
What will you do?

• Execute content management of the Knicks Gaming and Westchester Knicks social media accounts, with a focus on content planning, development, and publishing
• Stay on top of social media trends and integrate new opportunities for the Knicks Gaming and Westchester Knicks social presence
• Serve as the community manager for Knicks Gaming and Westchester Knicks social, finding unique and innovative ways to cultivate, sustain, and engage existing and new audiences
• Attend and cover Knicks Gaming & Westchester Knicks events, including home games, NBA 2K League tournaments, community initiatives, practices, media days and other team events, with the goal to share compelling content that captures attention
• Create media (photos, videos, graphics) for Knicks Gaming and Westchester Knicks social media accounts
• Liaise with Marketing Partnerships on content ideation and execution; track content requirements and fulfillment
• Lead content reporting with Data & Analytics team, surfacing insights and learnings around day-to-day posts and campaigns
• Support other Knicks social properties, including but not limited to New York Knicks, Knicks City Dancers and Jr. Knicks

What do you need to succeed?

• Experience in Adobe Photoshop and Premiere
• General knowledge of the G League and NBA 2K leagues, trends, and basketball culture.
• Understanding of current and emerging social media platforms and trends
• Detail oriented with a track record of managing multiple projects at once and delivering on time
• Professional experience on major social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok)
• Experience with social media measurement tools such as Sprout and CrowdTangle
• Ability to work autonomously
• Versatile interpersonal skills and professionalism
• 2-4 years’ experience working in the sports industry in a similar role
• Strong writing and interviewing skills
