Job Description

Candidates for this position must be based in DC, MD, or VA area or have independent plans for relocation.


The Ford Agency is currently recruiting for a Sexual Harassment Specialist to support the senior board members at an academic institution in DC. The person in this role will be an active contributor to a wide range of employee relations matters and initiatives as well as provide assistance to the legal team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education and an interest in cultivating an inviting environment for all. This is a unique opportunity for someone looking to make a difference in the education sector with a great team of collaborative professionals.


This is a hybrid role and is available immediately. Covid vaccination is required.


Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and implement research of grievances, sexual harassment complaints, and employee relations concerns.
  • Facilitate sexual harassment and labor-related trainings.
  • Work alongside the Deputy Chief to ensure the office operates efficiently and effectively.
  • Use data analyses to identify problems, analyzes information, make strategic recommendations and policy proposals, and develops and implements effective and efficient solutions to achieve goals and initiatives.
  • Work with employees, management, union representatives, and hearing officers to facilitate the proper resolution of grievances and sexual harassment complaints.


Qualifications Include:

  • Ability to exercise good judgment in quickly dealing with difficult situations and unexpected challenges.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience working with sexual harassment complainants preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree and three to five years of related work experience.
  • Interest in labor and employment.
  • Excellent fact-finding, data analysis, and problem-solving skills. Skill in managing high volume of documents and inquiries.
  • Previous exposure to or experience in the education sector a plus.
  • Experience providing customer service to individuals in emotionally-charged settings.
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter, while collaborating with others on meeting common goals.
  • Highly effective written and verbal skills to communicate factual and procedural information.
  • Exhibits mastery and in depth knowledge of and skill in the interpretation of labor laws, unions contracts, and EEO and civil rights laws, including without limitation: Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act, Section 504, the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, Title IX of the 1972 Education Amendments, and the DC Human Rights Act of 1977.
