Job Description

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is looking for a detail-oriented person to fill a Damage Claims Billing Specialist (Financial Analyst I) position in UDOT Comptroller’s Office.
You will work and handle accounts receivable documents and transactions. You will support regional offices, damage claim technicians, and others.
Principle Duties
As the Damage Claims Billing Specialist, your duties will include:
  • Providing administrative support
  • Sending and discussing bills to insurance companies
  • Negotiating settlements and work with internal attorneys
  • Reviewing incoming checks for collected accounts
  • Reaching out to employees for documentation or clarification
  • Calling insurance companies for status on collections
  • Running reports
  • Reviewing claims for accuracy
The Ideal Candidate
The Best Person For This Position Will Have
  • Collections experience
  • At least two years of related experience reconciling financial data
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge of spreadsheets
Completed higher education coursework in the following areas may be substituted for related work experience; accounting, finance, business, or other related fields.
Preferences
Preference may be given to individuals with an Associates degree or higher in Accounting or other business-related field from an accredited school or university.
Preference may also be given to current State of Utah employees.

Here Is Some Information You Should Be Aware Of
  • Physical Requirements - Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts; driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
  • Employee may be reassigned to a different location as deemed necessary by the Region Director/Group Leader.
  • Position is eligible for partial telework, based on supervisor approval.
  • Working Conditions - Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
