The Sexual Health Coordinator’s (HSC4) primary goal will be building, supporting, and maintaining relationships with local health jurisdictions, community-based agencies, and medical providers to facilitate and improve health services to intervene in the spread of disease. The most desirable applicants for this position will bring to this work experience in infectious disease prevention and intervention. They will combine that experience with knowledge of and understanding of communities who are disparately affected by sexual health conditions, such as GBMSM and their sexual networks and communities of color.

  • Lived experience or experience working with affected communities, which may include people living with HIV (PLWH), people diagnosed with viral hepatitis, people diagnosed with sexually transmitted infections (STIs), people diagnosed with or living with Black, Indigenous, and/or Hispanic/Latino/a/x communities.
  • Work to make high-quality, syndemically oriented, sexual health and disease prevention services accessible to residents of Washington State, such as:
  • Investigate disparities in services around infections to ensure that these services are available, accessible, and acceptable to members of disparately affected and historically excluded communities as such Hispanic/Latina/o/x, Black American/African born, indigenous, LGBTQ+ communities, and houseless/homeless individuals.
  • Effectively communicating, orally and in-writing, with diverse audiences.
  • Raise awareness of prevention work internally and externally, especially relating to vaccine preventable conditions that are sexually transmissible, such as Mpox and Human papillomavirus (HPV), and how that work integrates with work to prevent and treat HIV, STIs, and viral hepatitis.

  • Coordinating multi-department or multi-disciplinary collaborative work supporting Public health or healthcare response to an emerging condition or an outbreak.
  • CDC approved training on HIV, viral hepatitis, or STI testing and STI/HIV partner services.
  • Employees residing in King County will receive a 5% salary increase on top of the advertised salary. Employees in King, Pierce, or Snohomish counties may also request a free ORCA Card for public transportation.

  • Three (3) or more professional references, to be listed in your profile under the references section, which includes at least one supervisor, peer, and (if you have supervised staff) someone you have supervised or led.
  • Occasionally travel alone or with another person throughout the state which may include overnight.
  • Work a full-time 40-hour work week and occasionally adjust work-schedule to meet business needs, which may include evenings and weekends. A flexible work schedule will be considered upon request and supervisor approval.
  • Working with and/or knowledge of the national initiatives to end the HIV, STI, and viral hepatitis epidemics.
  • Working with and providing services to people living with HIV, viral hepatitis, and/or people diagnosed with sexually transmitted infections.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Participate in emergency response exercises and emergency events/high-priority assignments as assigned.
  • Providing direct disease investigation services to clients diagnosed with STI/HIV, or other infectious disease conditions, and their partners and/or contacts.

  • Accrue 14 to 25 days of annual leave and 96 hours of sick leave per year.
