Required Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

BS in Computer Science or related field
Strong working knowledge of research and teaching technology in higher education, including the provisioning of computer labs
Strong understanding of compliance and security for research and grants (NIST 800-171, NIST 800-53, IRB, ITAR, DoD)
Demonstrated experience managing large-scale projects
Technical knowledge in functional areas of responsibility: high performance computing, deployment of servers and virtual machines (VM), storage and backups, service delivery, and change control and versioning
Experience implementing and maintaining highly available systems and disaster recovery planning

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) is seeking a Senior Manager of Information Technology Systems to oversee the information technology support for a college of 21 departments, one professional school, 49 majors, and over 20 cross-disciplinary programs. LAS is the academic home for nearly a quarter of ISU’s student body and provides most of the university’s core required courses. The candidate will report to the Associate Dean and manage a large team of support employees, including working managers.

Responsibilities Include :

  • Manage enterprise applications – responsible for the strategic direction and execution of application projects to ensure high quality and timely deliverables
  • Research and recommend the use of new technology to IT professionals and campus partners.
  • Advocate for LAS priorities within ITS and within the university
  • Provide ongoing management and/or improvement of activities related to a part or to the whole of a technical infrastructure (e.g. information systems, security, telecommunications networks, etc.).
  • Promote common IT initiatives at the university and college level to ensure university-wide consistency where appropriate.
  • Provide oversight and guidance on the development of databases, data management software, and secure management of personally identifiable information, intellectual property, and protected survey data
  • Manage relationships with vendors
    • Advocate for LAS priorities within ITS and within the university
  • Produce metrics and information to measure usage to predict capacities and measure service levels
    • Ensure that security protocols are implemented and monitored throughout the college.
  • Provide expertise on system performance tuning, capacity planning, maintenance, and patching and new version installation.
  • Administer use, capacity, and performance of server systems focusing on multiple aspects of server operations across multiple platforms
  • Collaborate with the Purchasing Department on acquisition of new software, hardware, or services
  • Ensure that security protocols are implemented and monitored throughout the college.
  • Manage and direct a team of employees, directly and through other managers
