Senior Graphic Designer
Position Purpose
As a full-time Lead Graphic Designer for russell harris Event Group, you will be assisting
and supporting the Event Team in the sale and production of special events and the
promotion of RHEG. You are a part of the creative team that is responsible for
overseeing the visual design of RHEG proposals, marketing and events ensuring that
they are visually stunning, engaging, and memorable for our clients.
You’re a creative thinker, a maker and team player with proficiencies in the visual
design arena which are delivered through a mix of storytelling, presentation, and
graphic design deliverables. You are genuinely creative, independent, overflowing with
ideas for all types of media from digital to experiential. You love seeing projects through
from concept to creation.
The Role and Essential Functions
• Create visual design concepts that help both RHEG and our clients
communicate ideas that inspire, inform or captivate target audiences.
• Work on proposals and creative presentations including, but not limited to,
presentation deck design, spatial design, printed and digital collateral, event
builds, mock-ups and more.
• Work closely with the events team and other graphic designers to develop
event concepts and themes that align with client goals and objectives. Serve
as a trusted partner to the events team—working together with them to
reimagine and uplevel the experiences we deliver.
• Develop the visual design of event materials, including invitations, signage,
decor, and marketing materials, as well as scenic and stage design as
required.
• Ensure all content produced by the art department is proofed for errors and
in alignment with RHEG brand standards before being sent out.
• Attend client meetings and presentations to share creative ideas and receive
feedback.
• Collaborate with necessary suppliers to source support materials as needed
to ensure that budget parameters are observed.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices to ensure that all
events are innovative and cutting-edge and you are well versed in the latest
trends and technologies.
• Provide artwork for video content as requested.
• Manage overall design and best practices for company branding and
promotion including website updates, event software like CVENT, etc.
• Assist in the design and maintenance of marketing collateral and sales and
marketing presentations for the company.
• Provide support to Production & Sales with departmental needs like case
study creation, agency marketing, etc.
• Performs other related duties as assigned from time to time.
The Requirements for Success
Required Education, Experience and Abilities
• AA or BS degree in graphic design
• 4+ years of experience in graphic design, preferably in the events industry.
• Strong understanding of typography, color theory, and design principles.
• Solid knowledge of print production and fabrication.
• Proficiency with design software such as Adobe Creative Cloud.
• Ability to travel for site visits and out-of-town events if needed.
• Strong writing and verbal communication skills, ability to develop decks with
efficiency and impact.
• Ability to manage other junior team members and mentor them, and be the
Lead for an expanding art department.
• Successful experience working quickly and nimbly under pressure.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage
multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Education and Experience
• Experience in working within the events arena including live and virtual
events, as well as meetings and conventions.
• Environmental design experience is a plus.
• Experience in budgeting for event design a plus.
Competencies
• Exceptional ability to work across organizational boundaries with a consistent
history of cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to build relationships interdepartmentally and with clients, ensuring the
work and satisfaction is sustained project to project.
• Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours, including evenings and
weekends if necessary.
