About the job:
The director of experience design will help build all levels of a growing international human-centered design discipline. They work with so many industries, platforms, channels, and tools that you will be hard-pressed to find an exciting opportunity elsewhere! From mobile applications to enterprise software to AI/ML-infused dashboards to smart devices to customer experience strategy— our diverse group of UX designers, UX writers, and content strategists is in constant demand and in need of additional leaders.
Location: United States (Remote)
Key Responsibilities:
- Evangelize the experience design discipline to current and potential clients.
- Manage & Oversee and mentor junior and senior designers:
o Search, interview, and hire
o Appraise and train
- Organize and facilitate:
o Internal design critiques
o Experience mapping sessions
o Design thinking workshops
- Assist with the development of:
o Client presentations
o SOW documents
o RFP responses
- Help synthesize abstract ideas into concrete designs and collaborate with internal and external teams to identify and solve challenges while constantly thinking about improving process and flow.
Requirements:
- Ability to work directly with clients to establish detailed requirements and design complete experiences that meet their business needs and vision.
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting including synthesizing abstract ideas into concrete designs and collaborating with internal and external teams to identify and solve challenges.
- Excellent written and verbal presentation skills particularly as they relate to design processes, ideas, and solutions.
- Eye for design and ability to think creatively, while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Comfort with ambiguity or when requirements are in flux.
- Experience in an agile dev environment.
- Solid grasp of user-centered design (UCD), planning and conducting user research, user testing, A/B testing, rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis, usability, and accessibility concerns.
- Extensive experience leveraging UX design best practices to design solutions.
- Passion for all things UX and other areas of design and innovation; comfortable researching and showcasing the latest design trends and technology.
Qualifications:
- 10+ Years of relevant experience designing solutions for on- and offline experiences as well as managing those who do.
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, interaction design, industrial design, architecture, or similar concentration; certification from a qualified program is nice to have.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Expertise in standard design applications (eg, Sketch, Figma, XD) as well as the Microsoft Office suite.
- Portfolio that highlights design thinking and solutions for web-based applications, mobile applications, and consumer-facing websites and/or applications.
- Business-minded approach to time, costs, and deadlines.
- Excellent organizational, time, and project management skills.
