Partner with the best

As a Senior Database Administrator, you'll execute on database strategies and take responsibility for the integrity, architecture, modeling, security, and performance tuning for our MySQL databases. You'll play a key role in managing and improving the health and stability of our MySQL instances. You'll partner with development and systems groups to provide deep subject matter expertise in various projects.

As a Senior Database Administrator, you will be responsible for:

• Defining database requirements as part of the product lifecycle to influence the new designs and standards
• Participating in on-call rotations, guiding restoration and repair of service-impacting issues
• Responding to and resolving database related requests from other departments
• Performing database administration; install, configure, upgrade, and migrate existing databases
• Collaborating with our support, operations and engineering teams to investigate and troubleshoot complex problems
• Identifying data security related issues and help with improving overall security of the database environment

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Display an understanding of MySQL Replication principles (GTID based & binary log position based) and replication topologies
• 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in work experience
• Have experience with MySQL/Percona Server with focus on Innodb storage engine and internals, MySQL configuration, database performance, and query optimization
• Possess professional experience using Percona toolkit, ProxySQL, and other database tools in a high-traffic, highly available environment
• Have experience assisting developers with database development and schema design principles (normalization and denormalization where needed)
• Possess knowledge of backup strategies and disaster recovery scenarios

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from $134,466 - $214,782/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
