The Patagonia Creative Studio is an in-house creative team providing digital, editorial, film, photographic, and print and marketing materials that give voice to business and environmental initiatives. In addition, the studio develops and maintains Patagonia’s global visual identity.
This Senior Art Director - Brand is the primary design lead for Brand campaign development and Brand Identity Design. This individual contributor partners with brand and design ops, brand marketing and creative leadership to define how our values take shape for an external audience. Producing high-performance Brand campaigns that further our mission, and using these campaigns as vehicles for implementing consistent look and feel across channels. Setting the tone for ALL our external facing communication.
What You’ll Do
Pay Range: $96,400 to $144,600
At Patagonia, pay ranges are assigned to a job based on the location specific market median of similar jobs according to 3rd party salary benchmark surveys. Individual pay within that range can vary for several reasons including skills/capabilities, experience, and available budget.

What You’ll Do
- Care and management of our font library in collaboration with creative production teams
- Art direction of In-studio product photography and outdoor photo direction as related to campaign concepts.
- Takes a leadership role in establishing and maintaining a global visual identity for the brand in all regions. Communicates and shares with regional creative teams early and often. Always In-tune with translation and transcreation considerations.
- Ensure timely execution of final creative concepts and deliver direction to channel design leads
- Maintain strong collaboration with copy writers and photo editors. Manage their output in service of campaign concepts, insuring a sharp POV on how creative elements come together to form a clear communication.
- Partner with Retail, eComm and Social Media teams to ensure that all campaigns are consistently executed across all communication and sales channels.
- Drive creative ideas that spark connections with the natural world and incite citizens to take action in support of our home planet
- High-level creative development in response to global briefs
- Develop brand positioning, evergreen and seasonal (Holiday, elections, etc) Brand campaigns
- Able to think across media and activate the brand globally.
- Ensures design harmony across all product marketing and sport communication touchpoints in collaboration with the category design manager.
- Access and manage external talent for creative development and execution as necessary.
- You are self-motivated. Able to work through ambiguity, pro-actively identify and solve problems independently.

- You are a multi-disciplined design thinker; able to bring concepts to life across digital, print and 3D retail environments
- Proven ability to develop creative and activate marketing stories across various media.
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, digital design, or related field.
- Expert knowledge of Figma, Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and other Adobe products. A self-motivated approach to learning new and evolving creative tools.
- Superior typographic knowledge.
- Relevant experience creating for a consumer packaged goods audience.
- 10+ years’ experience in graphic design.
- Excellent collaborative and inter-personal skills.
