The Opportunity

This position is part of the Solution Support and Delivery function of Ally’s Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) organization that creates, supports, and delivers actionable business intelligence. The Sr. Analyst will be responsible for leveraging Snowflake, AWS, and big data processing systems to build Data Management and Analytical pipelines for Ally's Financial Crimes Compliance Analytics & Operations team. In addition, this role will utilize analytic and technical skills to innovate, build, and maintain well-managed data curation solutions and capabilities to drive business solutions.

Partner with the Enterprise Sanctions, AML Investigations team, Enhanced Due Diligence, the AML Program Management team, Enterprise Technology, and lines of business in ensuring that the day-to-day operations are conducted in compliance with regulatory and legal requirements, in addition to company policies and procedures.

The Work Itself

• Analyze data for data trends and anomalies and provide narrative of findings to leadership
• Ensure stability, performance and support of production data curation layers and meet demand for data across FCC Analytics & Operations team
• Utilize high performance relational databases (SAS, SQL Server, Oracle SQL Developer, and others)
• Miscellaneous duties as assigned
• Define and create curated data layers for FCC to utilize for analytics and for Business Intelligence purposes using Ally's Enterprise Data & Analytics standards
• Develop and maintain documentation including runbooks, procedures, and data dictionaries in line with Ally and regulatory expectations
• Maintain a current understanding of money laundering and terrorist financing issues, including policies, procedures, regulations, industry best practice, criminal typologies and developing trends
• Develop and maintain data pipelines and work closely with Enterprise Technology’s data engineering team to ensure most appropriate data is being leveraged by business partners
• Handle data manipulation (Extract, Transform, Load) and visualization in accordance with enterprise data governance standards
• Possess Data Warehousing principals and architecture patterns to help build reporting data marts in Snowflake
• Ensure day-to-day operations are conducted in compliance with regulatory and legal requirements and the organization's policy

The Skills You Bring

• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio
• Able to run multiple projects in parallel and communicate on status and risks timely.
• 3+ years in data analytics, data engineering, or management information systems
• Advanced working knowledge of SQL, databases, stored procedures and working knowledge of SAS/Python with the ability to write complex SQL statements to build data tables and produce reports
• Experience and knowledge in extracting data from traditional data warehouses and cloud data warehouses (e.g. Snowflake/AWS) to produce data for business partners and leadership teams
• Experience with Jira and able to work in Agile environment to formulate technical stories for data engineering teams preferred
• SAS, Python, Spark experience preferred
• Bachelors' Degree or equivalent related experience, Major field of study: Computer Science, Data Management, Management Information Systems, Business, or related major
• Ability to work well with others in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment
• Experience with data platforms and RDBMS including Cloudera Hadoop, AWS, Snowflake, Oracle, SQL Server, etc.
• Experience with Airflow or other data orchestration tools
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Banking/Financial Services experience preferred
