General Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Research Analyst. Reporting to the Director of Market Intelligence, the Research Analyst plays a key role in helping HARDI produce HVAC/R market analyses and guidance to support HARDI member businesses. The Research Analyst will play a primary role in designing surveys, supporting research projects, and producing summary reports that detail the preferences and sentiments of HVAC/R manufacturers, distributors, and contractors (installers). The Research Analyst will also be relied upon to study HVAC/R market dynamics and provide written analyses for the various economic reports produced by the Market Intelligence team each month.

HARDI is predominantly a North American trade association with international members representing wholesale distributors of heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and refrigeration equipment and supplies.With a membership of approximately 1,000 distributors, manufacturers, manufacturer representatives, marketing groups, and service vendors, HARDI is a diverse organization that exists to make HVAC/R distributors the channel of choice for HVAC/R suppliers and contractors.
Specific Accountabilities:
·Assist in the design and execution of HARDI surveys for the annual State of the Channel Report, individual member projects, and related needs.
·Study HVAC/R market dynamics, including industry trends, the competitive landscape, and economic factors influencing demand.
·Conduct quantitative and qualitative data analysis using appropriate statistical techniques and research methodologies.
·Collect/compile market data from public sources to support member requests and further HARDI research projects.
·Provide written analyses and contribute to the development of monthly economic reports produced by the Market Intelligence team.
·Other duties related to market research/analysis as assigned.
Required Skills/Experience:
·Bachelor’s or master’s degree in one of the following fields (or in a related area):
- Social Sciences
- Economics
- Statistics
·Proficiency in various research methodologies, including qualitative and quantitative approaches, to effectively design and conduct research studies.
·1-2 years’ experience in designing, executing, and analyzing surveys on a scholarly or professional level. This includes providing survey summaries through use of descriptive statistics, and analysis through usage of regression and multivariate statistical techniques.
·1-2 years’ experience in conducting time series analysis, and in forecasting economic variables.
·Experience with statistical software such as R, Python, SAS, Stata, and SPSS.
·Self-starter with creativity, initiative, and persistence to begin new lines of inquiry.
·Strong writing and critical thinking skills. Also, an effective communicator comfortable working in a team environment.
·Public speaking experience is preferred, though not required.
Travel:
·Less than 25% of the Research Analyst’s time will be spent traveling, although HARDI coordinates several conferences each year in different cities around the U.S. The Research Analyst will be expected to attend these events.
