Job Summary
The Estimator for our Light Gauge Materials Group is responsible for the accurate estimation of the labor and materials needed for light gauge metal loadbearing and nonloadbearing midrise construction projects. Works under general supervision and direction of the Director of Light Gauge Materials to provide material take offs, rough order of magnitude budgets, and estimates for the purposes of bidding and budgeting work.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepares detailed construction proposals from customer blueprints for business development account manager.
  • Provides problem-solving solutions using Building Codes, product information and indexes.
  • Provides material and labor estimates.
  • Attend descope meetings and project kick off meetings for clarification of estimate and comprehensive scope of work.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Communicates effectively with all organizational levels to include project managers and customers.
  • Assists in training and development of other estimators as required.

Qualifications
  • Minimum high school graduate. Preferred bachelor’s degree in related discipline or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in related field/responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge and experience using one or more of the following: OnScreen Take Off, Bluebeam, Revit and/or AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of light gauge metal construction
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in design or estimating single-family/multi-family homes and/or commercial multi-family.
Skills and abilities
  • Ability to pass a drug test
  • Proficiency in the use of the English language in reading, writing and speaking.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret building codes.
  • Ability to learn estimating software.
  • Ability to use a computer.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, including customers, builders, peers, and management.
  • Ability to successfully interact with all organizational levels and the public.
  • Ability to manage several activities/projects at once, to organize and prioritize work, to meet deadlines, and work under little supervision.
  • Strong math skills including algebra and trigonometry.
  • Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods of time, be mobile in the work environment, and work hours mandated by management.
