  • Stakeholder Development- The RSM will consistently build his/her region’s business by developing new contacts, fostering new relationships, and building long-term KOL connectivity.
  • Additionally, this role requires candid and timely feedback to the BFS and documents appropriate coaching and development.
  • Relationship Development – The RSM will be a leader who is internally collaborative and someone who builds and maintains team engagement.
  • Creates a high performing team environment which values continued professional development and personal accountability. Eliminates barriers and fosters a solution-oriented winning vision throughout the region.
  • Recruits and retains top talent applicants to ensure all positions are filled. Applies appropriate coaching styles to each direct report that motivates high performance and ensures accountability. Counsel and coach direct reports to maximize their performance and continue their professional development.
  • Product Development - The RSM is directly responsible for the generation of business and overall product performance within his/her region. The RMS will need to be a strong strategic thinker who can position the regional team for optimal product growth through sound day-to-day strategies and pull-through efforts. The RSM will strive to meet or exceed annual Company sales and marketing objectives.
  • Exercises fiscal control on allocated operating budgets. Take direction from leadership regarding marketing, standards, etc. and ensure it is cascaded and followed within sales representative teams.
  • Exhibits both a long-term, strategic view of the business with an acute focus on driving immediate results.
  • Customer Development - RSM will build business relationships with key customer types across the region. The RSM will be someone who provides the necessary coaching and skill development of BFS team that delivers impact and value to customer. The RSM will ensure the appropriate business and strategic plans are developed to support organizational goals and customer goals. The RSM will conduct account reviews for key customers as required to gauge overall product/portfolio performance.
  • Performs all Company business in compliance with all applicable Company policies and procedures. Apply appropriate measures to ensure that sales representatives also are in compliance with all applicable company policies and procedures. When violations are noted/observed they are to be immediately reported to management. Demonstrates high ethical and professional standards with all business contacts in order to maintain the Company's excellent reputation within the medical and pharmaceutical community.
  • Ensures an open and effective communication environment. Fosters sharing of "Best Practices" across the region and overall team. Serve as communication liaison with home office and region to include the proactive identification and resolution of issues. Possesses ability to assess organizational change management needs and applies appropriate tools to manage change impact within respective organizational groups to ensure successful implementation.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
  • Proven experience with independent decision making and sound judgment.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years pharmaceutical sales management experience. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.
  • Position functions autonomously. Position directly supervises 8-10 employees over multiple states. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Proficiency in speaking, comprehending, reading and writing English is required.
  • Ability to travel as required, up to 100%.
  • A strong background in biosimiliars, Oncology, Rheumatology, Dermatology, and/or GI with an understanding of the key IDN and community oncology accounts in the region is highly preferred.
  • Communication skills/interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex business and/or technical documents. Ability to write comprehensive reports and detailed business correspondence. Ability to work with managers or directors and communicate ambiguous concepts. Ability to present to groups across the organization.
  • May be required to stand; walk; stoop; bend; kneel; and climb steps. May require use of hands and use of arms. Light lifting requirements.
  • The Central region includes: Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
  • A mature understanding of Community and Acute Care GPOs.
  • Strong planning and organizing skills.
  • Must live within regional geography of responsibility.
This position is an exciting opportunity that is currently part of Viatris supporting our biosimilars business, but will move to Biocon Biologics. Viatris contributed its biosimilars portfolio and related commercial and operational capabilities to Biocon Biologics, effective November 29, 2022. It is anticipated that this role will transfer to Biocon within 24 months of the date of close.
