Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary: The Department of Public Health/ Bureau of Disease Control and Prevention (Immunization Program) is hiring a Regional Immunization Consultant position (K0243090).
We are seeking a nurse or other healthcare experienced professional who is enthusiastic about immunizations and assuring safe vaccine administration. This position serves providers in the State of Kansas, providing education, monitoring vaccine providers for compliance with Centers for Disease Control and Kansas Immunization Program storage, handling and safe vaccine administration. The ideal candidate will have a passion for immunizations to prevent diseases and will enjoy working with other professionals in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide support and information to providers interested in enrolling in the adult vaccine program and make referrals to the Adult Vaccine Coordinator for enrollment assistance.
- Provide on-site technical assistance for providers of immunization services, with education to include storage and handling of vaccines, immunization delivery and documentation, and adherence to CDC best practice guidelines. Aid immunization providers with continuous process improvement of service delivery and vaccine management, assuring adherence to federal or state regulations and guidelines. Increase access to the adult vaccine program through marketing of the program and recruitment and training of immunization providers. Speak to groups and organizations to explain services and to promote participation. Provide clinical interpretation and guidance for vaccine administration as guided by the ACIP recommendations to vaccine providers across the state.
- Facilitate and provide vaccine administration to state employee influenza clinics and other vaccine clinic administration as scheduled operating under the written protocols of a medical provider and providing oversight of Regional Immunization Consultant.
- Complete the compliance visit and provide immediate onsite general feedback to the provider. Complete all questions required by the CDC for the compliance visit and compete the documentation in PEAR timely. Provide a written report to the provider along with required action steps for follow up with an appropriate timeline for completion. File reports in electronic files as required. Collect action plan from provider and follow up at the specified time. Close all compliance visits within the PEAR system timely.
- Respond as the Immunization Consultant On Call during the rotation assigned by program management to all provider calls.
Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State.

- Independent, accountable as employee will be out in the field often
- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
- High School, GED
- Great oral communication skills with the ability to convey positive motives
- Experience in Public Health
- Current unrestricted Kansas Nursing license (RN)
- Minimum Qualifications:
- One year of experience in planning, implementing, and monitoring activities relevant to disease prevention, health promotion, or outreach and education.
- Two years of clinical experience associated with immunizations.
- Current unrestricted Kansas Nursing license (RN)
- Licensing & Certification:
- Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing with current unrestricted Kansas Nursing License.
- Education:
- High School, GED
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing with current unrestricted Kansas Nursing License.
- Coursework completed in Public Health and Science.
- One year of experience in planning, implementing, and monitoring activities relevant to disease prevention, health promotion, or outreach and education.
- Preferred Qualifications:
