Job Description
Job Summary
Responsible for the functions of sales and field operations for a region. Provides strategic and operational leadership for assigned area of business. Executes and monitors clearly defined business plans and goals to provide coaching and support designed to enhance market share, profitability, and productivity within assigned region.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities And Key Accountabilities
  • Works with the Regional Vice President (RVP) to develop and establish both annual and monthly sales objectives in alignment and coordination with the company's business plan and strategies.
  • Develops sales strategies, techniques, and tactics based on feedback from customers, regional leadership, sales management, and vendors to achieve sales and operations results according to the company's overall business and strategic plans.
  • Works closely with marketing, advertising, regional leadership, and sales management to develop pricing strategies and sales campaigns. Communicates with customers to assess satisfaction level with services and products.
  • Develops and implements training programs and fosters a commitment to long-term development of associates. Collaborates with customers, sales unit, operations, and HR to establish effective programs.
  • Interacts with the senior leadership team and individual department heads to ensure that the company's operational and sales priorities are aligned with the total company direction.
  • Designs, implements, and manages processes to monitor sales and operational performance. Facilitates account planning, assesses sales managers and team productivity. Inspires others with drive and motivation to sell aggressively.
  • Drives innovative and integrated sales and operations initiatives in partnership with the business unit president, other members of the senior management team and functional teams.
  • Collaborates with IT to ensure all operational systems are continuously evaluated for proper operation, relevance, and utilization.
  • Monitors performance metrics and measures to assess team and individual performance levels. Creates processes and incentives to ensure high levels of performance. Serves as escalation point for serious customer and vendor-related issues.
  • Prepares and provides regular reports on annual sales plan, providing necessary and timely updates, revisions, and modifications.
Environmental Job Requirements
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • This position requires operation of a company vehicle, or a personal vehicle and such operation is done consistently more than 20% of the average work week. If selected for this position, Core & Main will run a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) report. A requirement of this position is an acceptable MVR report.
  • Typically requires overnight travel 50% to 75% of the time.
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to think strategically and critically and make effective decisions under varying circumstances.
  • Five years’ experience leading and directing managers of senior account managers.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing or Technology. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Ability to develop and present supporting material at executive level.
  • Experience interacting and collaborating with regional and functional leaders to support the drive for operational excellence.
  • Experience leading large scale strategic initiatives or programs, providing leadership perspective and involvement.
  • Ten to fifteen years sales and operations experience in industrial distribution or construction supply with a high-volume, multi-site, multi-state business.
