R&D Lab Technician, Product Development


The Company

THE POSITION


We are seeking an entry-level R&D Technician who will be responsible for assisting in the development of new products from concept to commercialization that supports company growth. The position will also assist enhancement and improvement of current products. Assists the R&D team with the activities and operations required to complete the functions of the research and development department. Study and comprehend all policies, procedures, and operational guidelines set by the management team. Is responsible for the generation of representative bench samples and pilot batches for internal and external customer evaluations. Other duties include assisting with process optimization and product enhancement activities.


Responsibilities


  • Additional tasks as assigned by management
  • Follows SOPs, formulation spreadsheets, inventories, traceability logs, tracking logs, etc.
  • Basic troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Records and maintains inventories for raw materials, chemicals, and equipment.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work environment
  • Communicates effectively and consistently.
  • Collaborates with R&D teams to meet research and development schedules.
  • Follows complex instructions and formulations in the preparation of cannabis extract, concentrates, and infused products.
  • Operates within the company's Quality Management System.
  • Understands and meets daily goals, expectations, and deadlines.
  • Follows written directions and maintains a laboratory notebook.
  • Follows guidelines for acceptance and testing of chemical raw materials in finished blends
  • Records and aids maintenance of technical documents, databases, and reports.
  • Assists with bench scale and pilot batch experimentation to support all levels of formulation, analytics, and processing for multiple cannabis-based research.
  • Follows all company policies and procedures to ensure product integrity and quality control
  • Assists with new product processes from development to commercialization within the defined company, industry, and regulatory parameters.


Experience


  • Proficient in using MS Office and Google applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with coworkers and management.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all employees.
  • HS Diploma or equivalent experience in research and development, chemical or pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills.
  • Skills in intermediate math.
  • Ability to take direction and initiative.
  • Understanding of cGMP guidelines and FDA regulations related to the pharmaceutical industry


Other Details


  • Compensation commensurate with experience.
  • This is a full-time position based out of Roxboro, NC.
  • Background and reference checks required.
  • Periodically required to be available to virtually meet with international clients during non-traditional business hours.


Physical Demands And Working Environment


  • Work with heavy fumes, plants, airborne particles, and chemicals
  • Must be comfortable working with and around heavy machinery
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time (4-6 hours) with frequent kneeling and bending.
  • Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 50 pounds
  • Working in limited climate-controlled facilities and may experience extreme heat or cold
  • May experience moderately high noise levels
