Job Description
The Research Associate II plans and conducts experiments under the direction of a Scientist for in vitro studies to advance our portfolio of CRISPR-based gene editing therapies treating neuromuscular and CNS-related diseases. This role provides laboratory support of day-to-day analyses and develops cutting-edge technology platforms for therapeutic applications. The Research Associate II works as part of the team at our Gene Editing Innovation Center as well as with the broader Gene Therapy Center of Excellence in Ohio and with colleagues in MA.


Primary Responsibilities Include


  • Maintains mammalian cell cultures and performs iPSC differentiations to support in vitro disease modeling platform.
  • Follows scientific direction to execute and meet project timelines and deliverables.
  • Maintains compliant laboratory documentation; develops technical reports, protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Evaluates and implements new methods and technologies for continual process improvement.
  • Plans and conducts Gene Editing lab work and performs experiments to identify novel gene editing strategies and approaches.
  • Participates as part of a team in a laboratory setting contributing to a safe, efficient, and effective work environment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Interprets and presents data to internal functional groups.
  • Troubleshoots routine technical challenges and contributes to their resolution in a timely manner.


Desired Education And Skills


  • Experience working with iPSCs, including iPSC reprogramming, differentiation, and generation of gene-edited cell lines is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with molecular and cellular biology techniques including DNA/RNA transfection, viral transduction, CRIPSR-based gene editing, ddPCR, flow cytometry, cryosectioning, IF staining, is preferred.
  • Technically proficient with strong analytical skills; ability to identify and implement scientific solutions to practical problems.
  • Demonstrated time management skills, ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with the flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Desire to work in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment and to make a difference in the lives of people through our innovative therapeutics.
  • Analyzes and communicates experimental results to colleagues demonstrating effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook), gene editing technology, and other functional systems.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture with at least 1 year in an industrial setting.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with 2D and 3D in vitro disease models is highly desirable.
  • B.S. degree in a scientific discipline with 3-5 years of relevant experience in a laboratory setting, including one year in molecular biology research, neuromuscular disease research and/or gene therapy research or development.


This position requires work on site at one of Sarepta’s facilities in the United States.


The targeted salary range for this position is $57,000 - $71,500 per year. Sarepta is making a good faith effort to be transparent and accurate around our hiring ranges. The salary offer is commensurate with Sarepta’s compensation philosophy and considers factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, external market conditions, criticality of role, and internal equity.
