General Purpose
The Quality Assurance Manager provides leadership for the plant's quality organization, owns the quality management process and serves on the plant's leadership team. The Quality Assurance Manager develops manufacturing supervisors and quality technicians and provides quality and food safety guidance and oversight for all plant associates. The Quality Assurance Manager will manage and direct the quality assurance activities for the plant, including: syrup preparation and distribution, microbiology, sanitation, finished product analysis, package integrity testing, HACCP/GMP, sensory evaluation and process controls. The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for implementation and maintenance of quality and food safety systems for the plant and related operations. This includes organization of the quality team and activities as well as assistance with R&D initiatives at the plant.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the Quality Assurance Syrup Mixing, Sanitation, and Water Treatment.
- As part of the Plant Leadership Team, ensures local, state, federal and company quality standards are met for products produced by the facility.
- Supervise and enforce proper sanitation and housekeeping procedures.
- Ensure accuracy and efficiency of water processing, syrup-batching, and all QA testing and record-keeping.
- Participate in project work and initiatives as assigned.
- Assist operations management with process equipment and product/package troubleshooting and innovation.
- Collaborates with other departments (e.g., Risk Management, Internal Audit, Employee Services, Human Resources, etc.) to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution. Consults with other functions as needed to resolve difficult issues.
- Ensure compliance with all Company Safety policies and standards, ensuring proper attire and PPE are worn. Responsible for enforcing all company policies, regulations and holding regular safety meetings to communicate safety awareness and policies
- Demonstrates the ability to recognize and address the complexity of leading a diverse workforce; participates and actively supports participation in D&I initiatives. Holds self and others accountable
- Supervise and develop all quality assurance team members.
- Monitor Regulatory updates and Company communications to implement any necessary changes. Ensure departmental compliance with all company policies and procedure
- Oversee and direct the efforts of the plant HAACP plans, including GMP development, auditing and corrective action plan development.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Investigate, report, and formulate correction action plans on plant specific consumer complaints.
Complexity of facility, lines (Can, PET, Glass) and volume responsibilities will be determining factors used for leveling facility.
Qualifications
- Experience with budgets and financial reporting.
- Operational Excellence, Green Belt or Black Belt experience desired.
- Must have experience with ISO 9001, 14001, 18001, and 2200.
- Strong technical skills required. Experience managing multiple shift operations.
- 5-10 years production/manufacturing experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in food Science preferred or equivalent work experience required.
- Familiarity with manufacturing systems and theory of operation.
- Experience with TPM culture desired.
- Must be proficient in all MS Office applications.
- Basic computer and database applications skills.
