LET’S GET ROASTING! The Quality Controls Manager ensures continuous compliant production and is responsible for food quality, safety, sanitation and regulatory procedures with a focus on achieving customer satisfaction goals and positive financial performance of the company.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Reviews and studies existing equipment, systems, and processes to improve efficiency, increase quality and reduce costs.
- Develops a continuous improvement culture driving best practices and guarantees the operation is providing food-safe, quality products which exceed all product and customer specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Other duties as assigned
- Provides training and coaches all employees in quality and continuous improvement to ensure a food safe work environment.
- Owns the creation and ensures compliance of all Quality Management Systems.
- Communicates specific and clear company and individual objectives with quality and sanitation employees; coaches and develops team to reach professional development goals
- Assists in the development and maintains SOPs, SSOPs and process control points.
- Follows all safety procedures and actively participates in safety training and safety system ownership initiatives
- Investigates, addresses, and develops correction action for internal and external customer complaints regarding quality in a timely manner.
- Supports food safety, quality, and legality
- Leads, manages, and performs audits in the following areas to ensure compliance: HACCP, GFSI, SQF, Internal Quality, Pest Control, Quality Holds and Sanitation; ensures complete and timely submittal of required quality reports. Leads customer, regulatory and third-party audits/inspections.
- Provides timely technical support to Marketing, Sales and R&D as requested.
- Assists in root cause problem analysis and implementation of corrective action to operational issues.
- Manages the finished product retention process.
- Establishes, monitors, and communicates key quality metrics to all employees.
- Maintains safe and efficient use of equipment, tools, and person; reports any injury, accident, or unsafe condition to supervisor immediately
- Supports and complies with GMP’s; understands and follows emergency action plan
- Ensures the operation is providing food-safe, quality products which meet or exceed all product specifications and regulatory requirements
Education and Experience: The minimum requirements below are representative of the education and experience required to perform this job successfully.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership in food or pharmaceutical operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry or related discipline.
Qualifications: The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, abilities and attributes required to perform this job successfully.
- Demonstrated success delivering results in a continuous improvement environment (Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills with ability to effectively communicate with personnel, plant managers and senior level management.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and/or hours outside the normal work schedule.
- Critical, problem solving including analytical/root cause analysis skills.
- Ability to travel occasionally as needed.
- Strong project management skills.
- Solid understanding of QA/AC systems and all regulatory testing requirements.
