Job Description
We are seeking an experienced public relations associate to join our team in New York to focus on the execution of integrated communications campaigns for Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM). The candidate will work with all members of the MSIM corporate communications team to support the development and execution of public relations campaigns, including print, online and broadcast media relations, and media tracking, measurement, and reporting.

As one of Morgan Stanley's three divisions, MSIM has $1.4 trillion in assets under management or supervision as of June 30, 2023, across a comprehensive suite of public and private market investment management solutions. MSIM's diverse client base includes governments, institutions, corporations and individuals worldwide.

This position is part of the Morgan Stanley corporate communications team and will ensure MSIM's communication activities are aligned with Firm objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the review and approval process for press announcements, as well as distribution via Business Wire.
  • Coordinate with PR agencies to execute market commentary media strategies.
  • Draft press releases and media advisories and pitch thought leadership to promote investment products and expertise.
  • Facilitate print and broadcast interviews and manage all logistics to ensure a seamless spokesperson experience.
  • Partner with the MSIM marketing organization to align media relations activities with marketing campaigns and amplify media coverage through social and other owned media.
  • Track and measure media coverage for weekly, monthly and quarterly reports.
  • Highlight MSIM success stories across the firm and create greater awareness of initiatives within the investment management division.

The dynamic candidate will have a minimum of four years of experience in public relations, including media relations, preferably with a focus on the financial services sector. The position requires strong writing and editing skills, including the ability to communicate complex subject matter in a highly regulated environment; a high degree of familiarity with media outlets and reporters, preferably those that focus on the asset management industry; effective organizational skills and attention to detail; and the ability to work well under short-term deadlines. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the MSIM corporate communications team, make informed decisions in a matrixed, fast-paced environment and be comfortable with independent projects.

  • Confident communicator who can build relationships internally and externally
  • Strong attention to detail with solid organization and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to provide effective editorial and messaging guidance
  • Independent, resourceful and a self-starter
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment with the ability to make sound decisions quickly and handle multiple tasks concurrently
  • An enthusiastic, positive team player willing to help and work well with colleagues

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between 80000 and 110000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.

Morgan Stanley's goal is to build and maintain a workforce that is diverse in experience and background but uniform in reflecting our standards of integrity and excellence. Consequently, our recruiting efforts reflect our desire to attract and retain the best and brightest from all talent pools. We want to be the first choice for prospective employees.
