The City of Spokane invites applicants to apply for the position of
PROJECT EMPLOYEE - PARKS INCLUSION AND GRANT COORDINATOR
Job Summary
Works collaborative with Parks Leadership Team, to ensure diversity equity and inclusion is embedded across all lines of business (capital projects, facilities, maintenance, recreational programming, budget, hiring, and marketing).
Establishes baseline goals and Parks Division performance measures, implements action items to meet goals and thinks creatively to develop solutions.
Assess potential diversity, equity and inclusion impacts to guide business decisions.
Supervision Exercised
Incumbents in this class do not directly lead or supervise other employees.
Examples Of Job Functions
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
The following responsibilities and requirements are functions that the individual who holds or desires the position must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation.
  • Provides support of Division-wide community volunteer program.
  • Supports special projects as needed.
  • Serves as a resource and advocate for all staff. Provide resources for training and coordinate staff development related to DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion).
  • Trains and provides education to staff and programs leaders on inclusion and behavior strategies
  • Identifies grant opportunities related to supporting department-wide initiatives.
  • Engages and collaborates with external partners, advisors, and community.
  • Responds to initial requests for inclusion services and conducts assessment and required follow-up.
  • Identity best practices related to national trends involving diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Engages staff regarding department-wide initiatives and goals to ensure collaborations, effectiveness, efficiency, and equitableness in all work.
  • Monitors grant awards and tracks implementation of grant requirements. Provides compliance documentation, as necessary.
  • Participates in Division-wide, long range planning and development decisions related to inclusivity in all recreation programs and activities.
  • Takes a leadership role in the grant application process. Creates an annual plan and benchmarks for Parks and Recreation Division grant applications.
Working Conditions
  • The incumbent's typical working conditions are moderately quiet, but may include frequent exposure to computer noise.
  • Work is performed in a normal office environment with little exposure to outdoor temperatures, dirt and dust.
  • Duties may require some evening and/or weekend work.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
Any combination equivalent to the experience and education that would likely provide the relevant knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. Generally this will include:
  • Requires baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, humanities, human resources, industrial relations, social sciences, political science, or related field.
Experience
  • Two (2) years of professional work experience in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)
  • Two (2 years of professional experience with grant coordination.
