Job Description

PRINCIPLE OBJECTIVE:

Work in tandem with team in the innovation and development of quality products that meet brand strategy and are launched within Marketing Calendar timeframes. This role is temporary starting ASAP lasting until end of November 2023. The role will be operating off a hybrid schedule on-site at the team's corporate office located in New York City.


ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Attend WAR ROOM presentations to broaden knowledge of competition and gain category insights
  • Accurately review primary and secondary artwork for product descriptions and ILN
  • Deepen relationship with APAC PD. Work together on developing sensory testing plans.
  • Clearly communicate product concepts and re-directs to appropriate laboratory. Review submissions until desired attributes and performance is achieved.
  • Maintain an active data base of product results for team to use as reference
  • Develop leadership skills via the co-management of Intern along with Product Marketing
  • Track key trends, the competitive environment and participate in brainstorming meetings for new product concepts.
  • Procure samples in-house test panel. Create evaluation survey and analyze results.
  • Evaluate all product submissions and the establishment of standards from lab through first production. Evaluate reformulations and update production standards.
  • Evaluate Competitive- NPD and analysis.
  • Travel to R&D (Melville NY) as needed for development of new product concepts and calendarized formula development. Provide on-site approvals.
  • Work with Marketing, R&D, New Launch Operations, Packaging and Creative to ensure all products are launched on time and within cost guidelines.
  • Write new product profiles. Ensure Marketing Sheets from outside suppliers are obtained. Work with Marketing to establish product benefits. Provide key product information to Training, Global Communications and Marketing including Product Profiles, Product Usage Statements and Product Descriptions for copy.
  • Work with AT team to establish new formula actives that align strategically with products position and brand ethos.
  • Initiate, track and execute all stages of product development for Skincare projects. Work directly with both Melville & Shanghai R&D and outside vendors.
  • Request and track samples for meetings, press samples, photography, etc. and evaluate/organize 1st Production Finished goods
  • Work with PD and Marketing to come up with new innovative ideas for the brand which involves brainstorming, competitive shopping and research within respective categories.
  • Work with R&D to establish clinical / sensory/ in vitro product test plans and communicate results to Marketing via an Executive Summary
  • Create strategic claims to be supported in Clinical testing. Status and align with both legal and lab on claims and support. Be able to present a cogent argument on new and innovative ways to support claims.
  • Coordinate distribution of approved standards to Marketing, Packaging, and Creative.
  • Procure samples for senior team/ regional team / dr. weil team (if applicable) distribution of all new launches. Compose distribution emails referencing key benefits/ origins unique point of difference/ special usage etc.
  • Purchase and evaluate competitive products, prepare written assessments, and participate in presenting data.


NECESSARY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Relevant work experience in beauty industry and product development.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of Global Marketing principles, global consumer trends and socio-cultural climates.
  • Proficiency in power point/ excel
  • Creativity and thorough knowledge in areas of product development including the ability to conceptualize and develop and implement innovative product development programs.
  • Have strong understanding of all relevant social platforms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; strong presentation skills.
