Job Description
The expected salary range for this position is $129,370.00 - $161,710.00. Employees in specific high cost of labor locations in the United States (such as San Francisco, CA and Seattle, WA) may qualify for a geographic differential. Come join us in a new role as the Principal Payment Operations Lead with our Treasury team! This team performs a wide range of operations involving payment strategy, payment industry compliance, payment processing, and performance reporting.


You will be a key cross-functional leader, in developing and driving Compassion’s global incoming payment strategy and operations. In addition, you will lead a team of people in a fast-paced and high growth environment.


The ideal candidate will have led payment operations on the corporate side, has a subscription-based payment processing mindset, and has experience leading a payment processing team at scale.


What will you do?


  • Accountable for payment industry compliance across Compassion platforms (e.g. NACHA, PCI).
  • Define Key Performance Indicators and drive competence and efficiency through payment optimization
  • Build and lead a team of payments experts, with the objective of executing incoming payments at a large scale.
  • Uphold and engage in Compassion’s core Cultural Behaviors.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure that scalable and flexible payment solutions are supported for a variety of platforms and campaigns.
  • Act as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understands Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commit to and prioritize child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abide by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Report any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately support responses to incidents if they occur.
  • Apply subject matter expertise to optimize payment processes and technologies (e.g., Lockbox, gateways, ACH, Wire, Credit & Debit cards, Digital Payments).
  • Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintain a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully uphold Compassion’s ministry in prayer.
  • Develop detailed business requirements and work with agile development team to ensure on-time delivery of technology enablers for payments.
  • Develop and execute initiatives relating to payment infrastructure and capabilities.
  • Define and implement the global incoming payments growth and strategy.
  • Manage vendor relationships while serving as subject matter expert on subscription-based payments, and being engaged with innovators in this space.


What do you bring?


  • Experience working with banks, merchant processors, digital payment solutions and lockbox.
  • Experience leading large integration payment projects.
  • Experience building and leading a team of payment professionals.
  • Relevant and deep experience working in this or a related field.
  • Knowledge of payment regulatory bodies and payment compliance (NACHA, PCI).
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Equivalent education, training and/or certification may be substituted for experience and education shown above
