Position

The President will have overall operational responsibility and oversight of St. Catherine of Siena Hospital and will lead by example, setting clear strategies and performance expectations in an environment of participation and collaboration with senior management, physicians, community stakeholders and the board of trustees. The President will be charged with integrating the mission and ministry throughout the hospital by developing practices that bring life to their mission in all hospital affairs and by designing initiatives that promote and sustain spirituality at work.

St. Catherine of Siena Hospital,?part of the Catholic Health system, is a?296 bed, community hospital located in Smithtown, NY. The hospital has served the residents of the Smithtown area for more than 50 years and are committed to delivering the highest level of care to their patients who trust them with their health care needs. The hospital has experts in numerous specialties, including women's health, labor and delivery, kidney care and?wound care. The hospital’s services are continuously expanding to meet the needs of the community. St. Catherine of Siena Hospital is named after Saint Catherine Benincasa of Siena,?Italy, who was noted for her work as a nurse, mediator and spiritual leader during the 14th century.

Qualifications

• Displays strong business acumen, a sophisticated knowledge of healthcare funding, and experience in competitive marketplaces with the ability to make complex and difficult decisions.
• Advanced degree in business administration, public health, healthcare administration or related field.
• An energetic leader who is able to build trusting, collaborative, and effective relationships with key stakeholders
• Visible, approachable, highly engaged leader with the ability to inspire, challenge, and motivate others to achieve common goals; the ability to gain trust, credibility, loyalty, and respect.
• Ability to encourage feedback and collaboration with staff to promote a high standard of patient care, cost effective delivery of services and a team-oriented culture.
• Must have the ability to successfully navigate a complex, multi-hospital integrated healthcare delivery system.
• Current or prior President experience leading a hospital highly desired.
• Minimum of ten years of progressive experience in hospital or healthcare management within a highly complex and competitive environment is required.
• Demonstrates excellent leadership skills; has a calm, confident, visible, and empowering leadership style.
• Strong reputation for effective physician relations and a demonstrated history of developing teams to achieve desired business results.
• A positive change agent, one that is reassuring to staff during a time of significant change.
