Summary:This position focuses on developing and implementing interventions related to HIV/AIDS and STI‘s and other health disparities. As a key element of interventions, the PrEP Coordinator will recruit, test, and link patients/clients into medical care and aid in retaining patients into prevention programs (i.e., CLEAR and PrEP services)
Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following:
- Provide confidential assessment to determine the HIV prevention needs of clients whether the test results are positive or negative (including the registration, and planning of prevention services).
- Provide HIV, STI, and HCV testing, results, and linkage to care for patients/clients.
- Develops and implements strategies that will maximize the synergies among program areas (ie perform phlebotomy and rapid testing in the non-traditional settings).
- Recruit participants for the Choosing Life: Empowerment, Actions, Results (CLEAR) intervention and others interventions.
- Act as back up to the CLEAR and HIV/STI Testing program coordinator.
- Maintain records of PrEP program activities.
- Conduct HIV/STI rapid testing and phlebotomy (if not trained in phlebotomy, willing to be trained).
- Assist in documenting program activities, and reports outcomes to RAO leadership, state & county HIV/STI program.
- Develop and conduct program evaluations, assessments, and reports as directed.
- Adheres to the highest principles of client/patient confidentiality, and all /departmental policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with Disease Intervention Specialists (DIS), community based organizations, private medical providers, and local health departments for linkage and re-linkage to prevention services, STIs screenings, and follow-ups.
- Conduct community outreach and education efforts (i.e. PRIDE, health fairs etc.).
- Must have a car and a valid drivers license.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this position will possess excellent written and verbal communications, and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health or health related field with at least 2-3 years’ experience; or Master’s degree in Public Health or a related field. Bilingual (Spanish speaking) candidates are preferred, but not required.

- Organizational abilities and critical thinking skills.
- HIV/STI prevention, outreach, and health promotion.
Some nights and weekends required.
