Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate Plant 5 operations, communicate objectives, identify measurements and take necessary action to assure performance goals are being met. Performance includes on time shipment of components and trucks, meeting production schedules, cost of sales, inventory, and productivity goals. Responsible for developing and monitoring current process costs, estimate future process costs, operating and capital budgets. Develop annual budget for expense accounts and capital equipment related to the Operations.

  • Provide leadership and direction in the development of people, processes, tools, information, and communication. Assist managers in developing plans and goals focused toward achieving corporate initiatives to support ongoing improvement and operational success. Ensure that interruptions are recorded on a frequent basis and that immediate and long-term corrective actions are being implemented. Ensure that the supporting staff and production personnel understand and ask the fundamental question, “Is the process running as designed” while encouraging everyone to continually work toward improving.

  • Perform “Gemba” walks with the Managers that drive continuous improvement of the process through physical interaction and coaching. Ensure that similar “Gemba” walks occur through the Production Managers with the Supervisors, the Supervisors with the Group Leaders, and the Group Leaders with the Operators that encourages consistent clear expectations. Work closely with Engineering and other departments to assure that future company needs are being considered. Communicate plans and progress regularly in an organized and thorough manner.

  • Lead the effective implementation of Crown safety, and environmental practices and quality systems. Create the culture of safety first, in all aspects of Plant 5 operations. Monitor quality and warranty claims and take necessary action to assure appropriate level of quality in products and components shipped. Review safety and environment aspects regularly to assure compliance to standards and general safety of workplace. Communicate status regularly in an organized and thorough manner.

  • Perform duties such as creating/revising job descriptions, conducting Talent Development discussion sessions, rating performance, establishing/tracking goals and completing annual wage reviews. Ensure that all employees are provided with the proper training and motivation to be successful at meeting all company expectations.

  • Provide leadership, direction, training, and motivation required to develop staff members. Identify an individual’s talents and coach to a level that they understand their strengths and can take advantage of them. Focus on career aspirations and help the person identify where his/her talents can be applied and be successful. Work a development plan assisting the person in developing their talents and building upon their strengths. Engage and influence other reporting Managers to apply similar tactics in developing their employees with focus on improving the knowledge and skills.

  • Oversee the placing, transferring, promoting, and training of departmental personnel. Direct and oversee the departmental approval process for payroll, the processing and approval of employee paperwork to include vacations, personal leave, accident reports, employee improvement forms, etc. and the recording of attendance. Conduct wage review, direct the handling of problem employees and take proper disciplinary action.

  • Collaboratively work with the HR Team in monitoring the efficiency and quality of personnel administration. Administration includes recruiting, hiring, workers' compensation, and employee relations. Work with corporate personnel to recommend changes in support of good employee relations.


Qualifications:

  • Presentation skills and computer skills should be commensurate with the role.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required with strong emphasis on all areas of communication, listening and speaking.
  • This position requires a four-year college degree, preferably in business, operations management, or engineering, and at least 8 years of related experience.
  • Strong understanding and previous operational experience in lean six sigma methodologies preferred.
