Job Description

The Plant Manager is responsible for all Plant Operations, including Safety, Quality, Materials Planning and Production, Maintenance, Manufacturing Engineering, Human Resources, and Finance. This role develops and implements organization strategy, programs, and processes to assure the achievement of targets for profitability and cost, operations metrics, asset management, quality, employee safety, and customer satisfaction.

AS A PLANT MANAGER, YOU WILL:

  • Be skilled in strategic planning and the creation of strategic objectives and action plans to address short and long-term plant goals.
  • Lead systemic approach to workforce planning and succession planning, including identification and development of top talent, and support talent management through effective hiring, training, coaching, and development.
  • Drive operational excellence/lean manufacturing strategies to ensure continuous improvement plans are developed and implemented to support organizational goals of safety, quality, delivery, productivity, improved inventory turnover, and cost reduction.
  • Be responsible for developing, tracking, and implementing strategic plans.
  • Assure that the plant quality management system is effective, and that customer satisfaction is highly valued.
  • Lead in accordance with the organization's established policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Lead the development of initiatives to improve speed and response to changes in demand to sustain high on-time delivery performance.
  • Foster a strong safety culture that values employee engagement and open communication.
  • Lead development and ownership of annual and monthly financial plans, budgets, and operating reports.
  • Be a strong proponent of lean manufacturing, 5S, and visual management.
  • Lead planning and preparation of capital expenditure requests to assure ongoing operation of the facility.
  • Monitor plant capacity and develop and execute appropriate actions to meet forecasted growth.
  • Assure development and execution of sound manufacturing plans that achieve high levels of on-time delivery.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Elyria Manufacturing Plant and provide strong leadership to the plant management team.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

  • Must be comfortable presenting to executive-level leadership
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and conflict-management skills
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in plant leadership, operations management, or relevant manufacturing experience

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

  • MBA in E ngineering, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred
