TRD is looking for an initiative-taking and skilled Planning Manager. The primary responsibility of this role is to manage and lead the Planning and Purchasing team and direct involvement with manufacturing and external suppliers to ensure accurate supply and quality of components to support development and production activity.
This position will be based in Costa Mesa, CA.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate and coordinate with TRD Manufacturing to balance manufactured vs. purchased components as well as supply of outsourced components and material, to efficiently meet TRD Manufacturing Production Schedules.
- Creating, communicating, and publishing specific tasks and timelines for all direct reports to define and measure both standard procedures and improvement activity. (Includes input and participation in regular department meetings lead by Sr. Manager, Operations.)
- Responsible for TRD's supply and demand planning operations. Manages and leads the Planning and Purchasing Team including mentoring and performance management.
- Close participation, involvement and understanding of the Purchasing department principles, requirements and guidelines and mentoring / education of these principles amounts Planning department associates. Ensuring that Operations processes and procedures are defined (proven, documented, communicated) and completed.
- Coordination between TRD suppliers and Engine Engineering to improve component manufacturability, reduce cost and lead times, and improve component quality.
- Strategic relationship management of the Planning department in coordination with Engine Engineering, Development and Production Engine Build. Engage, collaborate, and communicate effectively with variety of stakeholders to deliver and achieve company stated business goals.
- Direct and oversee all established policies and procedures within the Planning Department as required to maintain accurate and timely, compliant transactions impacting the TRD Finance Department. (Build Plan, WIP Variances, BOM Costing, etc.)
- Direct involvement with manufacturing and external suppliers to ensure accurate supply and quality of components to support Development and Production Activity.
Experience & Qualifications
- Demonstrable performance building a Class A planning environment. (Managing capacities and priorities, master scheduling, forecasting, and planning.)
- 3+ years of management experience in Manufacturing, Automotive, or Supply Chain
- Ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical levels of the organization is a must.
- Direct experience in engineering project management (incl. project timeline creation and follow-up)
- Experienced in preparation and presentation of reports and data to all levels of leadership and team members.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skill with the ability to process large amounts of data from multiple sources.
- Critical thinking skills to analyze requirements and propose system and process-based solutions.
- Ability to meet aggressive deadlines for multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Specialist knowledge in MRP systems, master scheduling, and inventory analytics.
- Working knowledge of typ. custom software applications for SCM, QC, Integrated Business Management; plus, software applications for MRP, ERP.
- Familiarity in Manufacturing and Shop management (including manufacturing resource planning and personnel management, manufacturing technology and typical processes as applied to low-volume automotive components)
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Manufacturing or Supply Chain Management preferred
- 8+ years of relevant manufacturing experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Automotive
- Demonstrable performance building a LEAN, metric-driven company culture, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and bringing tools and training into the workplace.
Preferred Qualifications
- Good understanding of the following as applied to automotive and auto racing environments: Strategic-vendor capability (specialization, technologies, response capabilities, typical costs, and economic drivers); manufacturing and fabrication techniques (incl. low volume, high precision alum and casting; alum and steel HT processes, coating processes); Engine Assembly and Testing process; typ. Race team logistics and processes.
- Direct experience working with a race team, race engine supplier, race car chassis manufacturer or similar.
- Good working knowledge of race engine and vehicle architecture, typical development cycle and development processes.

The expected base pay range for this position is $127,840 - $207,740 per year.
