Primary Responsibilities:

• Consistently exhibit behavior and communication skills that demonstrate Optum's commitment to superior customer service, including quality, care and concern with each and every internal and external customer
• Develops a thorough understanding of the various management agreements applicable to assigned business areas, and ensure they are properly accounted for
• Miscellaneous ad hoc projects and additional duties as assigned
• Prepare journal entries and review accounting classifications, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Assist FP&A and operations with ad hoc analysis
• Assist the Accounting Manager in developing more efficient methods to improve the accounting process
• Collaborate with other teams within the organization to ensure successful project deployment
• Prepare documentation in support of external and internal audits
• Prepares fluctuation analytics and commentary for Leadership
• Develops a thorough understanding of the regional chart of accounts, including sub-account chart fields, and ensures that costs are properly allocated
• Lead the month end process for assigned business areas
• Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis, and investigate issues providing explanations and interpretation
• Use, protect, and disclose Optum patients’ protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards
• Reconcile, analyze and review general ledger accounts

Required Qualifications:

• Basic Microsoft Word skills
• Computer literate
• 10-key skills
• Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Intermediate Microsoft applications skills (Excel, Access)
• 3+ years of accounting experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

• 4+ years of accounting experience
• MBA Account Finance
• Professional communication with finance and operational teammates

California, Nevada and Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Nevada and Washington residents is $56,300 to $110,400.
